A beautiful spot to camp. My only complaints are that the outhouses need maintenance more often and the food locker locations should be added to the posted campsite map so they’re easier to find. The barrel locker by the pavilion was full and after a search I found larger lockers at the group sites that had plenty of room, but at the end of a day it would have been nice to know where to look.
Daisy Farm is one of the biggest campgrounds on the island, but with good reason. It is in an outstanding location with a sheltered harbor right on Lake Superior that is at a cross-roads of many trails that will take you anywhere on the island. The location has a pleasant breeze off of Lake Superior. There are, in fact, a lot of daisies here. The dock is phenomenal. The water is outstanding for drinking. Much colder and clearer than the inland lakes. Great for swimming. Gorgeous views of the harbor. Relatively close to Rock Harbor, but far enough away to get away from the busier Rock Harbor area.
A little slice of heaven. Luxuriate on the dock in the sun or hang at your shelter. Wednesdays and Saturdays Rolf and Candy stop by for a talk on the moose-wolf study, which is very cool. Make sure to sign the guest log and check out the magazines and books on offer. We stayed here our fourth night out of five on the island doing the Greenstone from Windigo.
First place we saw moose our entire trip. The doc is a great place to jump into the 55° water. The only thing negative is that the trails sometimes lead you to walk in front of the shelters. I feel like I'm invading somebody's privacy. All in all, Daisy farm Campground is a very good place to stay.
Beautiful location. A days hike from Snug Harbor. Stayed 2 nights in 2 shelters. Picnic tables at shelters, and tent sites. Wonderful dock on Lake Superior. Shelters are in need of a little TLC. Bever pond is getting a bit out of hand.
