This is our fourth year in the Penthouse. The first three years were great - it was clean and well stocked. I'm not sure what happened this year. We had no washcloths so we ran to the store to buy some. There was rotten food in the fridge (obvious upon first opening the fridge - didn't have to go looking), so we took it to the moldy and smelly stuff to the garbage outside. There was a thick layer of dust on some surfaces dust, so I actually dusted. All of this would have been okay, but the smell of cigarettes in the hallway (there are no smoking signs everywhere) was overwhelming. We couldn't run the bathroom fan because the smoke smell came in through the vent. I don't know why there is suddenly such a change in the quality of this establishment. If this were my first visit, I'd give it one star, but I know it is usually so much better.

Beautiful top floor of the tallest building on Main Street overlooking the dam and locks of the Mississippi. Very well-thought-out floor plan and very beautiful and spacious. Would absolutely stay there again. Love the town. Very peaceful place and lots of character. Very friendly people and we even found a kitchen table and chair for our house at the ideal furniture shop on Main Street!

Comfortable, spacious suite with huge bathroom and walk-in shower on ground level. This is a handicap accessible room. Has a Culligan water dispenser, wifi, cable TV, clothes rack, and comfortable queen bed. If you don't mind stairs, there's other studios and a stunning penthouse suite with a breath taking view of the Mississippi River. The suites open to a courtyard with fireplace and gas grill. The limestone building is on River Park Drive and faces the river and city park. Walk to shops and attractions in the quaint German city of Guttenberg.
