This way out of the way gem was a find. After labor Day weekend the camping is free. It's right on the water with a pretty little beach. Several sites have water access. The water is crystal clear and ice cold. Pay fee or not is first come first serve. There is a camp host names Billybob, he's awesome.
Well....went kayaking on the sf Coquille last weekend. Put in at Daphne campground. Ran about 9miles of river that day in the mixed rain and sun. Came back to a empty campground minus the host and one other duo. Rained all night but we had a sweet pop up over a grand fire. Next day ran another 5 miles of the river much to our liking, due as the river swelled up double from the day before.
Excellent weather during the summer, quiet campground and rather clean. Firepits with grates were a plus as I always cook over the fire while camping. There was no park host. Toilets were decent, didnt have thousands of bugs inside them like most other places. Only downside is there really isn't a swimming hole. Yes, the water is only a few steps away but not deep enough for an adult to swim. Kids will love it, though.
Beautiful place to get away. No cell service, love it. 😁
River views and hidden hikes! Amazing and historical place!
