The staff (both rangers and camp hosts) were amazing. The park is exceptional in friendliness and cleanliness. We loved that the bath houses were a/c (and heat). It's a smaller campground and larger rigs can have a bit of difficulty maneuvering some turns, but nothing impossible. All spots are paved, and pretty level. Lots of activities, trails, history, etc. Better signage from the highway (11) would help.
We LOVE this campground! Nice sites right on the Nolichucky River. Can hear the river rapids as you hang out at your site. Can fish in river if you have a TN fishing license. Lots of bike riding all around the grounds/sites. There are trails to walk or hike. Very friendly, helpful park rangers and host staff. Pool is closed and has been for years which is sad. We are told they plan to replace the pool soon with a play area. Wish they would consider a splash pad if no plans for a future pool. Restrooms and bath houses very clean and nice. Dog-friendly park. Nice picnic pavilion area close to campsites and it appears all sites have their own picnic table. Fire pit not provided on all sites; but if not you can rent one from the camp store. There are several picnic tables right at river at boat dock area. You can drive to boat dock then walk to rivers edge and have a picnic. So peaceful and gorgeous scenery. UPDATE JAN 2025: Sadly the recent unprecedented floods have closed this campground until further notice. I can’t wait to return after they repair it! But for now it is closed.
Very nice campground! No so busy during the week. Sites right on the river fitting for a Mini-T Campervan
Had a wonderful time camping this Father’s Day/Juneteenth weekend! Park rangers were super friendly. Campsite managers were great as well. Beautiful trails to walk, we’ll maintained and historic value added. Highly recommend!
My adult daughter and I were tent camping for the night, and found it to be a wonderful experience. Imagine being just 30 ft away from a river with Rapids, and the wonderful all night white noise that generates. Slept fantastic, and could even see the river from our campsite, and walk down to the river to eat our dinner and breakfast. Some short but lovely trails nearby if you like to hike, very close to the campsites.
