Customer Reviews
Family owned and operated and they are wonderful! The entire campground is kept clean, the entire staff is friendly, there's (3) beautiful lakes with birds, ducks, turtles, and fish, recreation room with pool table, TV, arcade games, beach area with chairs and water slides in the summer, laundry room, propane tank refill service, bath house, and a small store that is open during the Spring/Summer months, package/mail receiving service, each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit, and cabin rentals. The entire property is just relaxing and tucked away but still easy access to highway. There isn't an option to pay rent and fees online, just the simple pay in person option and pay in cash to avoid credit/debit card fee and electric is separate. During the most recent snow/winter storm, the team worked around the clock to get the roads clear of snow. My husband and I are here at least through April and we are so happy to have found Davis Lakes to stay while we are away from home for work!
This place is a hidden gem in the Hampton Roads area, the staff is amazing and the grounds crew keeps the resort looking amazing.. Great events on the weekends for family and kids during the camping season... Put the Campground on a must visit, you will not be disappointed.. đ
We stayed here for a week in August 2024. This place could be really nice, but there a few things are holding it back from being a modern RV resort. First, there is no online reservation system - the only way to book a site is by calling. For what there are in terms of amenities, the price is high. There are no 50A pull-thru sites, which is a requirement in any modern campground. There are no trash receptacles or dog bag stations throughout the campground, only a centralized dumpster location. There is no dog park, even though there are multiple areas where they could easily erect a fence and create them. The Aquaglide on the lake is pretty neat, but the hours for it as well as the camp store and game room are inconsistent / hit or miss. A heated pool / hot tub in addition to the lake would be a great addition as well. The laundry facility is a long distance from many sites. They also have an antiquated anti-weapon policy which is simply not acceptable in today's world. Other than these issues, it's a nice campground, and with a little work, could become a very nice RV resort.
This place is absolutely awesome!!! My girl is a medical traveler and we were there for a few months and never a dull moment! The Davis family is a happy hands on group and are always active in daily operations. Itâs a very family oriented facility and of course pet friendly! Amy and Lori man the office and can help you with anything you may need!! Less than 10 minutes from food or anything you may want! Overall just a great place to spend time and If youâre ever bored just stop by the office and chat with Lori, she is quite the entertainer â¤ď¸
We spent a 4 day weekend here this past weekend for the first time. We absolutely loved it. Itâs very well taken care of. Our cabin was clean and perfect for our family of three. The view of the lake was beautiful. The beach and water fun were great. We will definitely be going back.
We've enjoyed our trips to Davis Lakes both times we've visited. The most recent was Easter weekend. They held an awesome Easter egg hunt for the kids following a super fun arts and crafts time. The kids all got a ton of eggs with goodies in each one, as well as their own Easter baskets. My daughter was so thrilled and talked about it for days. We will be planning our summer visits soon! We also love the lakes and the beautiful walk around the grounds.
It feels like you have to know someone to be allowed to stay here. The staff was incredibly rude. I asked about staying for a month with my 30-amp RV, and the woman I spoke to immediately said it wasnât an option. She told me that if I did stay, it would cost $800 a month plus electricityâyet both the brochure and the website clearly state $700 a month, with electricity and sewage included. She also claimed there were no available spots, but I saw at least 7 or 8 empty sites as I was leaving. My father-in-law had a similar experience when he tried to stay for two weeks. They gave him the same runaround and said no one is allowed to stay for a full monthâbut I personally know two people who live there year-round and donât work for the park.
This is a lovely campground that is obviously well maintained. My disappointment came when I was charged a different price from what was showed on their website. When I questioned it I was told first âthatâs not our siteâ and when that was obviously not true, âwell itâs wrongâ. Not the best customer service. Also be aware there is a hand lettered sign on the door that they will charge 6% for using a credit card and they donât take checks.
Great campground on our way to and from Florida. Always friendly, quiet nights, and clean sites!
