Totally unique experience - if you want to unplug from the world THIS is the place. Right in amongst the redwoods - almost feels like a an ancient Japanese village. Each room is different and hand made. Just the bare essentials but all a human needs. Nature and the sound of a stream. History of the place is amazing. Restaurant is great. A very rare experience. From a family of four Australians ( two adults two young kids ) - highly recommended

My partner & I have been here several times to dine, but we finally got to stay overnight! We stayed in the Castro cabin, which is their only standalone accomodation. It was a perfect overnight trip, and so nice to disconnect (no wifi!). There is a small waterfall a short walk away, and as usual their food is incredible! Staff here is very kind🌲

Time for an updated review. This is specifically for the restaurant. Always upon walking in I'm greeted immediately. The staff is always very helpful. Be aware that this place is very busy during breakfast. It's packed and highly recommended to always make reservations. A few of my favorite things from the breakfast menu are. Eggs Benedict French toast Huevos rancheros The eggs Benedict is by far the best here. Their house made hollandaise sauce has just the right amount of lemon juice and seasoning. Perfect consistency in thickness. Highly recommended. French toast. The bread is evenly battered. You can taste a hint of vanilla extract in the batter. It's SO delicious. Huevos rancheros. Salsa is fresh. Eggs are cooked perfectly. Everything is the way it should be. I don't need to keep going on here. But let's. The decor is impressive and makes sense for the location and atmosphere. The seating is warming and home feeling. This place is NOT FOR KIDS. Please don't bring loud children ruining peoples dining experience. A lot of places in Big Sur actually have a no kids policy. So would I recommend this place? Yes. Breakfast is great. I'll write a separate review of the dinner. Enjoy!

This review is for the restaurant, as I camped during my recent visit to Big Sur. The restaurant is so cozy and charming, and I was fortunate to get to sit in the fireplace room! Staff were all very friendly and all around lovely front the host, to my server Ellie, to the lady helping refill water glasses and set tables. The food was also delicious. They had multiple amazing sounded specials that made it hard to choose apart from the regular menu also being incredibly appetizing. Landed on a fish local to Carmel and it had the most delicious coconut type sweet/tangy sauce that was so unique and tasty. Note: no cell service or wifi at the restaurant so don’t count on Apple Pay :) this goes for a few spots in Big Sur. Also no Amex, so bring that back up card!
