One of my favorite campgrounds, especially in the winter when it feel like you have a private beach, aside from the ass early PT, but even then, it’s impressive to watch those MACHINES workout. My favorite part about the park is the option to have beach front—literally in the sand—spaces that have water and electric AND you can also stay beachfront using only a tent. They don’t discriminate. I love that because I’m a Tesla & tent camper. I like my car tent but I also like that I can also hit that heater in the morning. Finding a park that will allow a car/tent to camp in a site with hookups isn’t allowed, even if I pay the same price🤷🏻♀️. But not at Del Mar Beach Resort!! The sites are smallish but gigantic compared to other beach front parks I’ve stayed in. We love renting kayaks and paddle boards from the marina. My son loves the paintball on base. The showers are clean—but the toilet seats are stainless steal 🥶. They will literally wake your ass up in the morning. So many amenities not only for a park but even for a base. It’s its own city I’m a camper so I haven’t stayed in the cottages but I think it’s cool that they allow a tent in front of cottages for the kiddos when they want to sleep under the stars. Oh, and lastly, we’ve been coming here since 2016 and the staff has always been so kind. I appreciate kindness more than anything🫶
My family of 5 and 2 dogs camped here right before New Year and it was an incredible trip!! We love that we could pull in right on the beach and the campground itself was lively but quiet. The kids enjoyed the park on the sand! The only hiccup we had was with booking. We booked 2 months in advance via the number on the website. We booked easily for the nights we wanted and received a confirmation email. A couple hours later we were contacted by staff and told that we have to adjust our booking because of the block dates for the holiday. We were on a 2 week road trip so we could not move our dates around. My husband spoke with at least 3 different individuals about the situation. Each of them were unapologetic and put the blame on us. He was told that we chose to book with a 3rd party scheduler so we need to adjust. After some back and forth we were contacted a few days later and told that they can honor our dates. We are thankful for the callback and for the staff working with us since this confusion was not our fault. We did laundry on site as well which was super easy because of the option for Apple Pay. However, the coin machine was not working and the laundry room was not unlocked at 0800 as the hours indicate. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and cannot wait to come back!
I did not stay here. But the beach is nice. The shop sells woven beach blankets. It's chilly in December but surprisingly bearable. Dude came by in a Santa suit. Says he's hungry 'cause no one brought him cookies. It's ok though, he's like, back from a deployment or something. This other guy here likes sand. He doesn't think it's rough and coarse and gets everywhere. Honestly fair because the sand is pretty soft. You can't have canopies or umbrellas anywhere in front of the lifeguard stands if I remember correctly. Decent 10-foot waves. Need a military friend to get on base.
Needs a deep cleaning. There was a mice dead in room, but they cane right and removed it. It was very nice to bebeaten by the weather. Right on the beach with firepit and grill for your personal use.
BLUF: Worth the price, especially for families with children. Cabins: Basic. One bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave and refrigerator. Small porch and your own fire pit. TV has cable/satellite connection for several channels. Facilities: Excellent. It's Camp Pendleton, there is a MCX and Commissary, bowling alley, mini golf and more.
