Beautiful Park! We spent a few hours walking along the waters edge and then hit a trail. We saw so many birds!!! My friend is an expert bird watcher equipped with a crazy camera set up, birds apps and know how. Here's what we captured: 6 Gadwall 16 Mallard 4 Common Merganser 6 Long-billed Dowitcher 6 Double-crested Cormorant 8 Snowy Egret 6 Great Egret 1 Great Blue Heron 3 American White Pelican 6 Turkey Vulture 1 Red-tailed Hawk 4 Acorn Woodpecker 1 Hairy Woodpecker 4 Steller's Jay 3 Oak Titmouse 6 Western Bluebird 4 Hermit Thrush 10 Dark-eyed Junco 6 Golden-crowned Sparrow 1 California Towhee 3 Spotted Towhee 2 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 Townsend's Warbler Number of Taxa: 23 Also....we saw several deer and a buck, 1 coyote. It was a great day at Del Valle! My dogs (leashed) enjoyed the trails, too. #birding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Parking ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful National park right in our backyard! The drive is about 40min from San Jose and is beautiful even for just a scenic drive. Once you arrive, there is a parking fee, which was $10 when we went. There is a campground and quite a few picnic areas with bbq grills. We brought picnic blankets and chairs with a few coolers of food. If you turn left instead of right, that area has stairs to go down to the beach water area. The “beach” area is mostly gravel. You can swim there and rent kayaks as there is a camper with rentable floaties and water gear. Restrooms are upkept well. The weather has been nice so the scenery is green and beautiful. We were able to see some deers and hawks all within 100ft of us.
Great place to be with the family. Nice and secluded, had never been there until this past head wave. They have great changing rooms and an arean to rinse off with fresh water. The only downside is that the water is not so clean, lots of duck poop and only certain area to swim on.
Beautiful trails and lake. I did camping too. Rest rooms are quite new and there are a lot of insects in rest room. Otherwise it's a very nice camping spot
