Free place to park your RV or camp! This area is super close to Death Valley. The stars and the sky at night are amazing. We only stayed one night on 9-2-2024. We arrived in the dark and had no idea what to expect or who might be there. It was still too hot to start a campfire in the fire pit that was next to our RV and we saw a scorpion, so we didn't start a fire. ;-) There are a lot of bugs here, I didn't see anyone mention this before. When we woke up in the morning it was already hot, but we rode our bikes up to the top of the hill near where we stayed and there's another pad site up there! It's pretty steep though, but amazing views from there, which I show in my photos below. We appreciated saving money for a night. However, we did run our generator while we slept because we didn't see anyone else there and it was hot AF to try to sleep. It was very quiet there and there's no cell service, so if you have Starlink, you'll probably be fine! When we woke up there was one truck camper type vehicle way down from us. For reference when looking at the photos, our RV is 31'. You can see that we had plenty of space on the actual pad. I made a video of the area on my YouTube page. Great sunrise!
Free parking to stop in. Very useful to take a few last picture of Death Valley. We stopped and said good bye to DV ! A few picturesque final pics which show how grand this park is. Probably one of the largest in the USA.
Great free spot for camping in your RV. It’s right outside of Death Valley. There are concrete pads which help keep the vehicle level, and almost every spot has a campfire pit next to it. Beautiful views of the mountains! We ended up staying for two nights. We reached there after dark and there were many other RVs setup already but it was easy to find a spot. Drive around the loop once so you can find the best spot.
Great campsite - being in a campervan, I loved having the flat concrete pads to park on. Most spots had fire pits (no rack). Quiet and safe. About 20-30 spots taken the first night and only about 10-15 the second night I was there, so you’re not alone but the place is huge so there’s PLENTY of space and privacy. Nothing in the area so the night lights are spectacular. Some people with 4X4’s drove up to the top of the hill (first pic) which seems to be a popular spot but I have no idea what’s up there. No toilets.
What a hidden jewel this place is! Super location for springboarding into Death Valley National park. Many pads to choose from, so you can have privacy if you so choose, or park wherever you want. Nice level roads which accomodate any size rig easily. We stayed here almost a week, and no one harassed us at all, and it felt very safe. We slept quite well, it is nice and quiet, as you are set back from the highway quite far. Enjoyed our time here in this abandoned mining colony.
