We are full-time RVers that usually boondock but needed a place nearby Las Vegas to stay with hookups for two weeks. RV parks aren’t usually our cup of tea but we really enjoyed our stay here. It’s clean, the staff is friendly, and the amenities are impressive especially considering the great nightly price. We especially enjoyed the super clean and spacious bathrooms with showers (it even had a sauna) and the pleasant pool area with a hot tub. On-site laundry was a bonus, as were very friendly office workers who graciously received our many Amazon packages that we had for pickup. Our only criticism is the ever-present cigarette smoke about everywhere you go here—staff, residents, and short-term guests are all constantly puffing chimneys and it will permeate into your RV, so an air purifier was helpful. Nevertheless, this was a small issue and we enjoyed our stay. We will stay here again and again. Thank you Desert Sands for offering a great place at an affordable cost! 🚐
Is this a scenic park? No. Is this a top-of-the-line park? No. Is it free of full-timer hoarders and some run-down RVs? No. Is it clean and quiet with good size spaces, full hookups, and excellent Wifi and cell service? YES! They also have a pool but we never used it. For reference, we currently live on the road full-time in our 40' fifth wheel with large Chevy truck. We were staying at a different RV resort on Lake Mead but needed somewhere to stay for a couple weeks between when we left Lake Mead for a different area. This fit the bill for what we needed. Super nice people working the front office, close to everything you could want or need, and all guests/residents keep to themselves. We did overhear neighbors talking about engaging in some less-than-legal activities but nobody was bothering anybody else. We always kept everything locked up but in general we felt very safe. I definitely wouldn't want to live there for longer than a week or two but if we were back in the area and needed somewhere to stay, we'd be back at Desert Sands no problem.
Beware if you need 50 amps! I don't want to badmouth this place - we only stayed one night, but it was kind of disastrous. I picked Desert Sands because it was away from the highways, not realizing that put us on the airport's landing path, but that wouldn't be a deal breaker. We arrived, got situated, everything was fine, then, early evening, our power went off. It came back on, no problem. Then it went off again, twice more, and then it wouldn't come back on. We checked outside for anything obvious - nothing. On our check-in paperwork, I found a "Camp Host Phone (After Hours) 702-387-8977". I called - it's not a working number! We eventually found a camp host to help us. He was very friendly and wished to help, but knew nothing about electrical issues, and assumed the problem was with our rig. He called somebody else. That person showed up and plugged in a tester. It showed no power on our side. Eventually he said, "You can't plug two 50 amp rigs into that tower." The tower was shared between two sites and the other rig - already plugged in when we arrived, was also a 50 amp. When we asked why they put us in that spot, he said, "They don't listen to me. You could probably put a 50 amp and a 30 amp fine, but not two 50 amps." We made it through the night - thanks to our generator - and got out of there as soon as we could the following morning. Our electrical worked perfectly at our next stop. Needless to say,we will not return to Desert Sands.
I've been Living here since December 31 2023 I Love it the People are Nice get along but the Best Part about Desert Sands RV is the Staff the Manager Cameron Vikki Pam Bobby Jo Marty Rocky we've got a guy that can make anything out of Wood it's Amazing If You're Looking for a Peaceful Place this is it Refreshing Pool Nice Hot Showers and Attentive Help from the staff & the Security Keeps Us Safe
They seem to be trying to modernize an older park, but it was disappointing; small sites, not close to much of anything, normal city noise. Prices are equivalent to other older LV RV parks, but I think you will find better value elsewhere.
