This destination is the perfect retreat for any season. Located just 20 minutes from Kirkwood Ski Resort, it’s an ideal spot for a quick day trip to hit the slopes. The staff was incredibly friendly, with Grace at the front desk going above and beyond to answer all our questions and make sure we were comfortably settled into our cabin. She was genuinely kind and helpful! The cabin itself was cozy and inviting, the perfect place to unwind. The bed and bedding were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night. The property also boasts a wood-fired sauna, and our cabin was equipped with two plush robes for the experience. The kitchen was fully stocked, including a complete spice rack, making it easy to prepare meals. I highly recommend staying here and I’m already looking forward to returning this summer!
We enjoyed the stay during thanksgiving. The staff and cabins are great, ambience in snow/likely during late fall, is great. Location wise it is away from civilization by 30-40m and that can be problem if you don’t cook. Cafe on site is great, not top notch food, but sufficient to get by. Markets around site are not fully equipped so bring your own food!! Hike and surprises on the path were great at site. Close Tahoe through Luther pass is fine but watch for closures during winter. There are 28 cabins and each have unique design. We liked ours, but some of them are not toddler friendly due to steep stairs. Windows are not double pane so it gets cold and needs full time heater on. Upstairs get quite hot while trying to heat first floor. So there is fan but annoying to adjust things. Kitchen is likely %10 equipped so cannot cook as you please, bring your own. Overall cabin life was great but amenities and heat was concerning.
We had a family gathering of 16 for an early Thanksgiving Celebration. Everyone stayed in different cabins. My Husband, our Dog Gibbs and myself stayed in a cabin called The Chapel. It was clean, cozy and warm. It had everything we needed and then some. The staff were all very kind and super helpful. We ate dinner at the restaurant the first evening and the food was delicious. We plan on returning next year a bit earlier to avoid the snow and experience Desolation Hotel Hope Valley in a bit warmer weather. We loved it and look forward to next years visit.
