Devil’s Den Horse Camp Introduce
For residents of Arkansas, the call of the wild is often answered by exploring our state's incredible natural beauty. From rugged mountains to serene valleys, "The Natural State" offers a diverse landscape perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Among the many unique experiences available, equestrian camping provides a special way to connect with nature, allowing both rider and horse to enjoy the beauty of our trails. If you're a horse owner looking for an exceptional place to camp and ride, or simply seeking a tranquil retreat within a renowned state park, Devil’s Den Horse Camp in West Fork is a destination that promises adventure and relaxation.
Devil’s Den State Park is a jewel in the Arkansas State Parks system, celebrated for its unique rock formations, scenic trails, and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) history. Within this iconic park lies Devil’s Den Horse Camp, specifically designed to cater to equestrian campers. While some past reviews might reflect periods of transition or specific experiences, it's important to note that the horse campground recently underwent significant renovations and upgrades, demonstrating Arkansas State Parks' commitment to providing top-tier facilities for its visitors, particularly the equestrian community.
The vision behind these improvements, as shared by park officials and equestrian groups like the Back Country Horsemen of Arkansas, was to create an investment in the future of horseback riding and family camping. This means improved access, expanded campsites, and new amenities tailored to the needs of horse and rider. One recent and positive review captures the essence of the riding experience: "What a great ride with Back Country Horsemen of Northwest Arkansas! We really enjoyed camping here and riding the beautiful trails. The trails are technical so definitely put tungsten or borium shoes on your mount." This feedback underscores the authentic and adventurous nature of the trails and the positive experience many equestrians have had.
Devil’s Den Horse Camp is nestled within the picturesque Devil’s Den State Park, located at 12835 Co Rd 61, West Fork, AR 72774, USA. This prime location places it in the heart of the Ozark Mountains in Northwest Arkansas, offering stunning vistas and a rugged, natural environment.
Accessibility to Devil's Den State Park is relatively straightforward for Arkansans. Only 1 trail open, yellow. First part well marked, where it goes into hiking trail, it's not marked. 4 mile ride in heat ended up being 10. HORSE camp full of travel trailers, bouncy house and tents. Not really reserved for horses at all. Best spots are clear across camping area opposite of bathrooms. Very disappointing. Overlook beautiful but there's supposed to be a hitching post. We didn't see one. Ranger was rude and folks at visitors center no help.
What a great ride with Back Country Horsemen of Northwest Arkansas! We really enjoyed camping here and riding the beautiful trails. The trails are technical so definately put tungsten or borium shoes on your mount.
Always a good time here. The trails are interesting, some are pretty rocky though, the horses can enjoy a good drink in the creek and there is plenty of room to park.
The Horse Camp at Devils Den was utterly destroyed....I don't know who designed the new one...but they should never be allowed to do this anywhere else...
Great trails beautiful views
