Diamond creek guard station is just before the camp ground. Google references johnson guard station which is confusing. We did walk through the camp. Was quiet and we'll shaded.
I actually stayed at the Diamond Creek warming hut/rental cabin but I made myself familiar with the campground which is 200yds away. I've stayed at about 15 National Forest rental cabins n this one was by far the funkiest and least inviting of them. Its just a really strange structure. Ultimately though it was fine n the place kinda grew on me. I won't b back though. The campground was empty for the 2 days we were there in late July. Spacious campsites with a couple choice ones right next to the creek. I understand the area gets crazy with ATVs on weekends. There was a cow moose hanging around the entire time we were there. We had a dead battery on our day of departure and waited almost 3 hrs for someone ANYONE, to come by. Its a pretty area. We didn't fish the creek. This definitely a place where locals go, not tourists.
I love this place. It's quiet and peaceful. As an fyi, there is no running water, or restrooms at this campground. However, there are picnic tables and fire rings provided. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cow pies this time of year. I just wish the people who were there before us had a little respect for the great outdoors. We picked up a lot of trash and people had destroyed mature trees for no reason. Very sad...
Always a beautiful place to relax and unwind
Great place to camp.
