We chose to stay here primarily because of its close proximity to Crater Lake National Park, but we ended up falling in love with the place. The camp host, John, is incredibly friendly and goes out of his way to assist campers, within reasonable limits, of course—some people can be quite challenging these days! While the facilities are a bit dated, they are impeccably clean. The paved bike trails around the lake are fantastic, and the road surrounding the lake is also enjoyable with very little traffic. Little to no light pollutions during our visit was a huge bonus. We absolutely adore this peaceful and picturesque campsite, and we can’t wait to return time and again!
The spot we get can be hit or miss. Some feel more private than others. The 4 days we stayed there, showers were closed most of the time due to power outages. There are a few toilets available across the campground but not all of them are kept clean. Mosquitoes are definitely an issue in the area so be prepared. Bugs spray anti-itch cream candles… all you can get. A lot of campers do not respect the quiet hours. But the hosts are nice.
The campgrounds were clean and the hosts were beyond helpful and nice! My family and I enjoyed our stay there although the site (M003) we had was mostly a very fine dirt/sand which I believe to be caused by the gopher holes that covered nearly the entire site. Plus said gophers kept hanging around our coolers and we had to keep our bags with food on the table and keep a close eye on them. Other than that, the lake was beautiful and the sunsets with the clouds were as equally beautiful.
The campsites were so overgrown there was no where to pitch a tent. This seemed congruent through most sites with any vegetation. No camp host on site. Bathrooms were closed for the entire stay but the bucks were clean. Staff were friendly and did come weed wack a few spots so we could utilize our site. The lake front is beautiful. The buildings and restaurant lodge look like they have never received general maintenance or improvements. Not sure we will stay here again.
The campgrounds are a good size and the fire pits are nice and big! I personally thought the bathrooms were very clean (woman’s) and the campground was kept in good shape! The only thing I’d warn people about is the bugs!!! Make sure you bring lots of bug spray and there were a large amount of spiders in both camp sites we stayed at. They mostly came out in the am and would cover your tent. They’re harmless but if you’re afraid like me it might be something you want to be aware of!!
