Dispersed Campground Introduce
Nestled along Forest Rd 300 in Colorado Springs, CO, Dispersed Campground offers a unique outdoor experience for campers and nature enthusiasts. This campground is an ideal destination for those seeking a blend of adventure and tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you're in an RV, truck, or SUV, this spot provides a rugged yet rewarding camping experience.
The campground is located in a picturesque forest setting, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in nature. While the area is close enough to town for convenience, it remains far enough to offer breathtaking views of the night sky, free from city light pollution. It's a stargazer's paradise, especially during clear nights.
One of the standout features of Dispersed Campground is its free camping option, making it an accessible choice for budget-conscious travelers. However, be prepared for a rustic experience. The roads can be rough, and 4WD vehicles are recommended for easier navigation. The area is not patrolled by Rangers, so visitors should be mindful of occasional noise from other campers or nearby shooting activities.
Despite its raw and untamed nature, Dispersed Campground has garnered positive feedback from visitors. Here’s what some campers have to say:
- "Best camping stop around. Close enough to town yet far enough to be away from the city light and see all the stars. Hey it might be February, but it's still beautiful."
- "Great place to relax in your hammock! Not the most relaxing place to camp. There is shooting going on all day and night.... it isn't patrolled by Rangers so other campers get rowdy. I wish I could say it is as peaceful as it looks but it is free to camp! The roads are rough in most areas....most ideal for trucks and SUVs with 4WD."
If you're looking for an authentic outdoor experience with a touch of adventure, Dispersed Campground is the place to be. Pack your gear, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready to create unforgettable memories in the heart of Colorado's natural beauty.

The spot was farther than we expected. They were cutting down trees and it was hard to find a dispersed spot. It was only possible to park on the left side of the road for 2 miles. We ended up parking at the side of the road with a beautiful view of the mountain, still containing some snow. At night and in the weekend it was quiet. During the day, some people would drive by in their buggy.
this site has gorgeous views!!! I'll totally be staying here again and hopefully catch the sunset which must be super epic. my GPS sent me the wrong way and led me to a private property gate, so I had to go all the way around and stayed on rampart range road and just trusted my own judgement with the map over the GPS's directions (it was wrong multiple times even though it's so simple and straightforward). felt pretty safe for me as a solo female.
Very little traffic or people. Relaxing. Beautiful area.
