Customer reviews indicate that while the campground offers a good family environment with proximity to the lake, potential visitors should be aware of certain aspects. The access road is described as difficult, with a rugged gravel surface, making it unsuitable for large RVs or trailers. Additionally, specific fire regulations are enforced, with restrictions on fire height and wood stacking. The camp host is noted to be strict about these rules, which some visitors find off-putting.
Key features and considerations:
- Lake proximity for fishing (fishing is allowed).
- Camp spaces available for rent.
- Vaulted bathrooms are open.
- Difficult access road (gravel, rugged, not recommended for large RVs/trailers).
- Strict fire regulations (fire height limits, wood stacking restrictions).
- BBQs are reported to be broken.
- No swimming allowed in the lake.
Dogtown Lake Campground And Group provides a camping environment with fishing opportunities, but potential visitors should be prepared for the challenging access road and the strict enforcement of fire regulations. It is recommended to familiarize yourself with the campground’s rules before your visit.

Customer Reviews
You have to educate yourself about their rules regarding fires. It seems that the fire cannot be over 2 ft above the pit nor can you teepee the wood to start a fire. This is why I gave 3 ⭐️'s for service. The camp host was a senior and was a tad too serious about his job. He proceeded to tell me that I was going to be responsible for the entire forest. I get his point, his delivery is what sucked. Overall the park is a good family place with the lake very close by.
Dogtown lake & campground is difficult to access. I would not recommend towing a trailer or navigating a large rv to the lake itself. The gravel based access road is somewhat rugged and there are tough spots along the way. There is no swimming in the lake. There are camp spaces available for rent. Fishing was allowed and the vaulted bathrooms were open. The bbqs were broken.
This locale. Is unmatched by any spot in it's forest in my opinion. It's a moderate drive. Most vehicles can make it, no views better than dogtown, fun for the loaners to the whole family. I highly recommend if you want some nature, to go here and enjoy it.
Clean, easy to find, and a nice little lake to walk around and fish in. I wish they had a little bit better signage, but that’s the only complaint. Nice little walk with good views and wildflowers!
Great site. 2 miles entrance on a Rocky Road. Everyone was friendly, and space from the next campers was sufficient. Hiking trails a lead to some amazing views. A lot of Kayaking and motorized boats in the lake. Along with fishing.
Beautiful lake. Good trout fishing. Electric boats, kayaking, but no swimming. Nice campgrounds for tents, motor homes, trailers 5th wheels, vans, etc. No hookups, community water, and bathrooms. 20 min drive south of Williams, Arizona. Mostly paved, except for the last 5 miles, is wash board dirt road. Not bad for any type of vehicle. I believe they just started charging about an $8 fee for day use. Reservations are recommended for a camp site, which are usually open May thru September.
BLM is right before the turn to the lake. Small area for 14 days, close to town and a bit away from ATVs. Busy road and lots of dust but free works, right? Vault toilet is usually clean
The host Brandon and Danyal were awesome, everything was clean and they were always nice toward us, I highly recommend staying at this campsite and fishing, fish were biting everyday, I only fished for trout and caught my limit everyday.
There isn't much to say about this campground except that it's right next to the lake, which may be exactly what you want. Nothing out of the ordinary: lots of kids, families, the usual campground stuff. Lots of free dispersed camping if you drive a mile away from the lake.
