Honestly no complaints here nice plots and a decent outhouse. I just wish the circle fire pits were a little better positioned and the site can initially be tricky to find. But once you know your way it's no issue. There is a beach across the way, fishing and paddle boarding as well.
Best place to pitch your tent if you enjoy swimming across a river to go cliff jumping. Other than that, it’s a basic campground with 2 pit toilets (in a clean and secure building with lockable doors) and the good toilets and showers are a short 1 min drive from Dogwood Campground. There are campfire spots, concrete tables, poles for lanterns, and plenty of trees to use for hammocks.
This camp site is in a valley so there is no breeze and it was very hot in the summer. The bathrooms in Dogwood were filthy but there are bathrooms and showers available a short drive away. Site DW03 did not have any flat areas for our tents but it did have a fire ring and a grill. The swim beach was brisk and refreshing but that water is cold. The kayak trips were very reasonable and a ton of fun. Next time we will be staying on the lake side. There was a nice breeze there and the sites and bathrooms were much nicer. Soggy Bottom was terrific
Next to the river. The only downside was the strong smell of the restrooms from the d4 campsite. So next time will use d1 to 3 or 7 or 8. Campsite.
Nice campground when thinking of nature, right by the river. But some sites have no grill or broken ones. Be aware of that. Also, the restrooms there are extremely old (a whole in the ground) and I could only imagine the smell inside! Of course we didn't use them, we were driving to the other side of the park to use decent restrooms. As much as this camping ground is booked all the time, they definitely need to update it.
