Doherty's Mountain View Campground focuses on providing essential services and a friendly atmosphere that makes guests feel at home. While the grounds are noted as being subject to ongoing improvements, the core services are geared towards a pleasant and comfortable camping experience. Here are some of the key services you can expect:
- Accommodations for Various Camping Styles: The campground welcomes both RVs and tents, providing designated sites for different preferences. This flexibility allows a wide range of campers to enjoy the facilities.
- Access to a Clean Swimming Pool: A significant highlight, the campground boasts a very clean and fenced-in swimming pool. It's open for the season (addressing previous misconceptions about its availability) and typically remains open until 8 PM, providing a great way for families to cool off and have fun during warmer months.
- Friendly and Accommodating Owners/Staff: Guests consistently praise the owners, Bernie and Margaret, for being very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. Their personal touch contributes significantly to the welcoming atmosphere of the campground.
- Community Vibe: The presence of many friendly seasonal campers creates a strong sense of community, where people are "too cool for school" and willing to help each other out, fostering a supportive environment.
- Ongoing Improvements: The owners are actively making improvements to the grounds, indicating a commitment to enhancing the overall camping experience for guests, which is encouraging for both new and returning visitors.
The features and highlights of Doherty's Mountain View Campground revolve around its natural setting, community spirit, and opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. While it offers a more relaxed, "no-frills" experience compared to some large resorts, its unique attributes are highly valued by its loyal clientele:
- Scenic Mountain Views: As the name suggests, the campground offers picturesque mountain views, providing a beautiful backdrop for your outdoor adventures and daily relaxation.
- Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: The natural surroundings make it an excellent spot for wildlife enthusiasts. Guests have enjoyed seeing and photographing various animals, adding an exciting dimension to their stay.
- Fossil Hunting: For those with an interest in natural history, the area around the campground offers opportunities for fossil hunting, a unique and engaging activity that can appeal to both adults and children.
- Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Despite some potential for quad activity (which is noted as a downside by some but enjoyed by others), the campground is widely regarded as a good family campground, with a general vibe that caters to family fun.
- Strong Community of Seasonal Campers: The long-term presence of friendly seasonal campers contributes significantly to the positive social atmosphere, making it a place where new friendships can easily be formed and old ones cherished.
- Open Pool Hours: The pool being open until 8 PM allows for extended enjoyment, perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring or simply relaxing in the evening.
It is important to provide a balanced perspective. While the campground is highly praised for its friendly owners and community, some guests have noted the presence of excessive quad (ATV) riding around the loop and in the field, which can detract from the relaxing atmosphere for those not participating in such activities. This is a minority opinion among the generally positive reviews, but it's a factor for consideration for those seeking absolute quiet. However, the overwhelming positive feedback regarding the owners' warmth and the overall welcoming environment suggests that these are actively managed aspects of the campground's operation and are part of its unique character.

Customer Reviews
Great campground. Owners are very friendly and outgoing. The grounds need a little TLC, but this is a good family campground and what you would otherwise expect. They are making improvements which is encouraging. The poster who complained about the pool must have been trying to swim in it before it was open for the season. When open, the pool is very clean and fenced in. Pool is open until 8 pm. Friendly seasonal campers. The only downside, at least for us, is the excessive quad racing around the loop and in the fieldup top. It is not very relaxing to those who don't have quads. Unfortunately we are in the unpopular minority on this one. Entering our 5th year here.
Wife & myself have been camping here for close to 20 years. Excellent getaway to see and photgraph wildlife & fossel hunt. People are too cool for school, and we all help each other out when the need arises. Like Ed said Bernie is the man but dont forget Margaret the lady of the house. 👸🏻
Great family oriented campground but with no regulated quiet hours. Evening fun is not only allowed but it's encouraged.
Excellent, place to go to rest and relax 😃!
It’s the best we have gone here for 20yrs
