Very nice campground peaceful quiet. Beautiful Carters Lake. Hilly steep for bicycles. Kayaking on lake. Elijay nice little town 30 minutes away. Good restaurants.
Really nice campground on Carter’s lake. Many of the sites are spaced well to allow for privacy. I did a full walkthrough showing each site on my YT channel outdoormary. Check it out so you can find the perfect spot for you.
I stayed at site 31. Campsite is great. Decent view of the water but only 1 bar of signal on tmobile and att. I put out my starlink but couldnt get a real clear view on the sky because the trees were blowing. So if you need internet for work, dont pick this site. Neighbors were awesome and very quiet but with school started no kids were here. Guessing if it was the weekend or peak season it would have been louder. Bathroom is uphill about a quarter or half mile away so unless you want to walk that make sure you have an extra car or able to move your car. Also based on the great reviews i thought this would have the best campground bathroom ever. But it had two or more roaches, toilets were a little dirty, and no way im taking a shower in there. Ive seen much better but ive seen worse as well. Give it a 5/10. Electrical hook ups have 50, 30, and 20 amp(normal plug). Im a car camper and its nice to run fridge and accessories off of shore power not my solar generator. all around great spot.
We stayed at the only tent site with a power hookup (site 45), and it was great. The sites are each private, and our site overlooked the lake. The view is blocked a lot by the trees, but it's not bad. It was mostly quiet. People played their music at their sites, but it wasn't very disruptive, and we had no issues with noise during quiet hours. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well-maintained. The check-in and check-out was easy. I'd definitely visit again.
The campsites were clean and decently maintained. We were at site 38 near the bathrooms. It was very convenient but because people are literally the worst, we probably wouldn’t stay here again. Clearly respecting quiet hours isn’t a thing and nightly between 11pm-1am people would come to the bathrooms and charge their phones or wash their dishes. Literally at 11:30pm a family came and washed their dishes at the bathrooms, screaming and banging pans. Absolutely Insane. There needs to be better outlines of quiet time and camping etiquette here that is communicated from the campground host. I saw other reviews talking of no enforcement of quiet time. Hopefully someone sees these and actually does something. Super disappointing. Beyond that there’s very minimal lake access due to steep slopes which was disappointing but that’s on us for not doing research. Other sites are quieter but it’s a drive to a bathroom. So If you are looking to just camp with a drive to a bathroom or lake access this place is perfect.
