The campsite is known for its interesting terrain, which includes rocky paths and abandoned mines to explore. While the proximity to the freeway means you might hear traffic at night, the stunning views and peaceful environment more than make up for it. The area can get a bit crowded at times, but the unique experience it offers is well worth it.
For those who enjoy a campfire under the stars, Dome Rock Upper Campsite provides ample space for a bonfire. Cell service with T-Mobile is fair to good, ensuring you can stay connected if needed. Remember to take it slow when navigating the rocky terrain to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
Customer feedback highlights the beauty and unique charm of Dome Rock Upper Campsite. Visitors praise the nice views, interesting terrain, and the opportunity to explore abandoned mines. While the site can be a bit crowded and the traffic noise is noticeable at night, most agree that the experience is worth it. Many appreciate the free 14-day stay and emphasize the importance of taking trash with you to keep the area pristine.
Beautiful! Nice views of the town below. A little rocky getting in so take it slow. Cell service t-mobile fair to good most times. Room for a bonfire. No services of any kind so come prepared with your own waste removal systems.
Dome is a decent spot to camp, nice view, interesting terrain and some abandoned mines to explore. It can be a lil crowded at times and the freeway is close so you hear the traffic at night but it's worth it. It is free for 14 days but take your trash with you!!!
If you like boondocking, this place might be good for you. It's wide open desert so pick your spot and camp away. No fees, totally free but there is a BLM host you register with for an up to 2 week permit. Sometimes the BLM host is off duty and you just go set up and then go back. When you go to register if you're pulling a trailer, they need truck and trailer license plate number so make sure if you're already set up you remember the trailer license number. One drawback here is it's along I-10 so there can be some traffic noise, but it's quite a ways away so it's not that bad, but some might object. On the good side, with even just 2 bars on Verizon, data is mostly reliable. Some areas nearby like Cholla Rd. Are sheilded from good data. We camp here annually and enjoy a great campout with our friends. 2024 update, we are here again and nothing has really changed though it's a rainy year. Be careful where you set up. If there are plants growing and it looks like a dry creek, water has flowed there and will again. Seek higher ground.
Love dispersed camping around Dome Rock.
