Great campsite along river. Farther away from Mount Shuskan/Baker than I would like, but still close. Bathrooms were one of the best kept vault toilets I've been to thanks for really phenomenal host - Ron. Super clean. Great sites with good decent spacing. One of the best hosts I've come across if not the best.

We popped into this campground on a weekday just looking for a spot for one evening to hike Chain of Lakes Loop the next morning. When finding spots at these campgrounds we don’t expect much. Just looking for a flat spot to park our rooftop tent and a manageable bathroom. We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. Ron, the camp host, boogied over on his cart directing us to options of open spots. The friendliest chatter. We set up shop. Then, upon hitting up the bathroom, um what? A motion activated light, decorations, a deodorizer and of course immaculately clean. I have NEVER had such a pleasant experience in a forest service campground. I 1000% recommend this place if you can nab a spot. Thanks for the great accommodations Ron!

Ron! What a host! And his pups, adorable. He is super attentive; knowledgeable and very witty! If he isn't sharing stories from his host spot, he was cruising around on his golf cart with his furry babies making sure things are running smoothly. And they are! Enough about Ron - the campsite is gorgeous. Pristine location. Bathrooms - top notch! Always clean, smells great (yup!) and the light on the inside is a great touch. Ron enjoys a little banter and making everyone smile. Superb base camp for all wanting to explore all the beauty Mt. Baker has to offer! Thanks Ron!!!

What a gem!! This is a beautiful location right on the North Fork Nooksack River. We came without a reservation and had fingers crossed. The host, Ron, was accommodating and had a perfect spot. He was super helpful and pointed out the spot which would be most level for our truck camper. Our spot had a rocky trail down to the river and we even saw a few chinook swimming upstream. The vault toilets were exceptionally clean and had hand sanitizer, air freshener, plenty of toilet paper and even some walk art for ambiance. Lol, the finest vault toilets we’ve ever used! There were recycling and trash bins nearby too. The river rushing by our camp was the very best sound machine for sleeping. Wood is also available for $10. Spot was $30. We’ll definitely be back!

Douglas Firs is our favorite campground, we've camped here for 7 years. We always camp for a week over the 4th of July, along with numerous other smaller stays. For the last three years we have been blessed with Ron as the camp host. He runs the camp as if it were his own, bathrooms are always super clean. He adds air fresheners, hand sanitizers, small humorous murals and motion sensor lights. All on his own dime! Around the camp you will find rocks that he has painted and placed around the sites and restrooms. Its a pleasure to have him stop by and tell a story and just visit, hopefully he will be back next year. I would give it more than 5 stars just because of Ron!
