We had a week long family vacation here and had a blast. What a perfect spot on a beautiful Adirondack lake. Be aware that the cabins are very rustic, but they had everything we needed. The resort also has a bar that is open a few nights a week that we enjoyed. My only critique is that we traveled to the resort by RV, but planned on staying in the cabin. They were very adamant that our RV could NOT be parked near the cabin. This was a bit of a pain, but we made it work. I'd go back there anytime!

Stayed 3 days in mid July in my 30 amp travel trailer for $37.80/night for electric, water and sewer. Free WiFi only around restaurant. Verizon is bad but most of the Adirondacks is that way. Plug is 30 amp but breaker is 20 amp. Not an issue as weather was nice and didn't need A.C. Arrived on Monday but looks like only 3 spots were open as most campers are long-term. Silver Lake is private and they have a boat dock and ramp as well as a marked off swimming area. 2 or 3 jet skiers and couple of pontoons used boat ramp/docks everyday. Has a restaurant/bar but it's closed Monday and Tuesday. Pretty quiet place and has more of a locals hideout feel. Suspect weekend might be different with more boaters.

My family have been attending the Douglas' for over 30 years. A fantastic family reunion trip, but certainly a rustic, scenic feel. Boats and other watersports are available for rent at a decent price. If you are particularly attached to creature comforts like cell reception and wifi, this is not the place for you, as modest WiFi is available only at the main house, which is also a Bar/Restaurant. The lake is beautiful, and the fishing is fantastic. Fires are allowed. Perfect for a retreat or getaway. Also relatively close to Lake Champlain, Lake Placid, and convenience stores are available at Ausable Forks, about a 15min ride from the main cabin. This is important as they do not provide much in the cabins. One must be prepared beforehand if they don't wish to do much shopping during the week.

While this is our second time at the Douglas, I believe it will be our last. The lake is wonderful and the kids love it, the cabin is clean - but - outfitted with items you would not purchase at a garage sale... We stayed for a week; they came and picked up the trash twice... and never once stopped to see how things were going. Don't forget to bring everything you need including toilet paper, they supply nothing but sheets for the bed. And the free Wi-Fi is only at the bar. I guess I am getting spoiled in my old age, if I pay over $1,000 for a week stay I am expecting more.

LOVE this place! How can you go wrong with a lake named Silver Lake and it is situated in a town called Hawkeye. Spectacular views and brews. The beach house has a full menu and bar for an added convenience. It is one of those special places that need to be experienced.
