We had a large family birthday cookout for about 50 people in early September. We rented/reserved the picnic pavilion near the Tailwater Campground store. Everything was great. At this pavilion, there is a large charcoal grill, a water pump, eight large picnic tables, plenty of parking, and beautiful scenery to enjoy.
I love to camp here, very well maintained campground along the river. Bathrooms are the cleanest of everywhere I have been. Candice the manager and Chris keep this campground in tip top shape, would be a great loss if they ever left.
This is a great campground. The location on the river was awesome. The grounds were clean and well maintained. The camp hosts were helpful and very friendly. The bath house was clean and the water pressure is wonderful. It is close enough to everything (15 minute drive) but yet far enough away to enjoy nature.
We stayed here a week at a site near the entrance. No problems with cell service. Quiet at night. Only saw vulture's here. But did see some pretty butterflies. We ended up staying an extra day. We moved to the side of the mountain at the playground loop. Cell service was horrible at this site. I heard others complaining in the loop as well. Workers are nice. Just be mindful about where you select to be for cell service.
Great place for camping with an RV or tent. We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, green, clean and well maintained campground. We stayed in our tent with great views of the river and nature around us. This campground is awesome, the office personnel, camp hosts and rangers are nice, personable and helpful. The bathrooms were nice and clean with great water pressure and plenty of hot water in the showers. We wish we had more time to stay there, it is near The Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
