We had such a great experience last October that we came back again this October. Laurie was a great host each time She was helpful and kind and we had good conversations. I was never asked to leave a review I just feel inclined to share our experience. First off this park is only about 25 minutes from Loveland which we see as a bonus especially hauling a camper. There were a couple long term campers who don’t bother anyone and the owners cabin….other than that we had the place to ourselves and she helped us pick out the best spot for our 26 foot camper. It was right next to the river which doesn’t have hook ups but was no big deal and a more than fair trade off to walk out the door to that view every morning! If you do want hook ups tho they are available just across not very far from the river. The spots are well kept and have a fire pit and a picnic table. There’s no cell service but there is open WiFi near her home. It’s also close to Estes if you are need to run out for something or wanting to explore outside of camp. We did leave to have a birthday lunch in Estes but other than that we were so content just hanging out at camp listening to music tossing the football and frisbee and most of all enjoying the river in rubber boots and hip waders. If you’re debating on giving this park a try you totally should especially in the fall when things have slowed down.
My wife and I found this little piece of heaven last minute on memorial weekend. The owner, Lori, had a spot to accommodate our 45' toy hauler. Right next to the river with trees all around us. She had no issues with how many dogs we had and even let us run our generator. We loved it so much that we went back the following weekend, and are planning a couple more before season ends. This place is beautiful, affordable and Lori is an amazing person!!! Definitely recommend staying here!
Found this little piece of heaven quite by accident while riding my Harley back from Estes. Lori and Jeff are open year round. Amazing location, many sites water front. Only 11 or so offer power, but inverter generators are welcome. They have water to fill ur tanks and a dump (for a cost). We WILL be back as soon as weather warms back up.
There is no shower here. They were super disrespectful to my family and kicked one of my family's dog. That dog is super small and so nice. My family comes here and has spent money over the last 4 or 5 years.
After reading some of the reviews about this campground, we were hesitant about staying. I am glad we gave this campground the benefit of the doubt. First, I called and spoke to the owner about space and found out they had available spaces with water and power, and without. I said we were coming to see the fall colors. About a week before we were scheduled to leave home for this trip, the campground called and told us our timing for peak colors was going to be perfect - who does that anymore? When we arrived, we were shown the grounds and told we had a choice in where we wanted to stay - dry camp or with connections. We chose to dry camp as it backed up to the river. and we had plenty of room Our spot was well maintained, had a nice fire pit, maintained grass and picnic table. Also, the lot was fairly level and it took no time to set up. During our stay, we needed to have a part sent to us and the campground was more than helpful in coordinating the delivery and accepting our package. The owner brought it to our site as soon as we arrived from a day of exploring. Overall, our experience at Drake was excellent and we received old-school, personal attention from the first phone contact, right up to the day we left. We will plan on returning next year - the campground is very nice and the owner is delightful. Highly recommended.
