Duff Creek Campground Introduce
Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Shaver Lake, CA, Duff Creek Campground offers a tranquil escape for campers and outdoor enthusiasts. This primitive campground is easily accessible off Big Creek Road and provides a rustic yet rewarding experience for those looking to connect with nature.
The campground is known for its scenic beauty, featuring Duff Creek running alongside the south end of the site. Visitors can enjoy the soothing sounds of flowing water, explore small ponds, and even discover a nearby waterfall. While the waterfall is a highlight, it’s worth noting that the water is shallow, making it more suitable for younger children or those looking to wade rather than swim.
Duff Creek Campground is surrounded by plenty of shade, making it an ideal spot for hot summer days. The area also offers unique spots to explore, adding an element of adventure to your stay. However, as a primitive campground, it is not serviced, so visitors are encouraged to pack out what they pack in to help maintain the natural beauty of the area.
Customer feedback highlights the charm and accessibility of Duff Creek Campground:
- "A wonderful campground, easily accessible right off Big Creek Rd. There is plenty of shade and neat little places to explore."
- "Had a great camping experience. The waterfall is good, but it’s a bit too shallow for taller individuals if you jump off the cliff."
- "Lots of flowing water and small ponds, near a waterfall. Lots of crawfish, though the fish don’t bite easily."
While the campground offers a serene environment, some visitors have noted the presence of trash left behind by previous campers. This serves as a reminder to all visitors to be good stewards of the forest and leave no trace.
Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventurous outing, Duff Creek Campground is a hidden gem in Shaver Lake, CA, waiting to be explored.

Customer Reviews
Place was great, lots of flowing water and small ponds of water, near a waterfall but the fish don’t bite. I havent tried worms or bugs yet but i will see next time, lots of crawfish though. Had a great camping experience and the waterfall is good but its a bit too shallow for people 4’7 and up if you jump off the cliff
A wonderful campground, easily accessible right off Big Creek Rd. There is plenty of shade in this area as well as neat little places to explore. Duff Creek rungs right along side the south end of this campground. When I was here, there was a lot of trash left over and I was able to fill two 30 gallon bags up with trash. The fire rings were trashed with broken bottles and random plastic bits that someone had tried burning. Please be good stewards of our forests and pack out what you pack in. These campsites are primitive and aren't serviced.
No toilets, no utilities. Just a creek and some trees. You'll hate it. I Love it. But you'll hate it for sure, so just stay home and let me camp there. 🤣
