Customer Reviews
What a blast on the river. We do this every year. The delivery vans could use a good cleaning. The kayaks are updated and nice.
Edit: I should have went on here and looked at all of these negative reviews before I decided to try this place again! 😡 Definitely not an experience I would pay for again. At $305 for five people to kayak because we were late.... No. The fact that we were even put in, in an area we couldn't get our kayaks in... It was nothing but muck and we kept getting stuck! They will not bring the cooler they offered. Phill will gouge your wallet you if you let him. Making your own trip is much more enjoyable with no restraints or outrageous pricing. And by the way, they are not the best kayaks as they claim. #Greedy
Enjoy coming here. Started tubing here 10 years ago, now we kayak. Prices are good and they always give us plenty of time to make it back.
Phil and his team are so nice! I have floated the river for years and yes, there are downed trees and some obstacles, however you are in a river in the middle of nowhere in central Michigan. So many bad reviews, and I feel alot of that is from out of towners who expect a 5 star river experience. Us locals LOVE our river, and Phil and the rest of the crew at Duggans are just doing their job. My advice, if you’re looking for a nice float, Church Bridge to Duggans is a perfect way to relax and enjoy a sunny day ❤️
Please go anywhere but here. Firstly, they make you pay cash or check. I asked for a receipt and one was not provided. We tubed in a group of 7. They tell you that you have to walk 200 yards from the drop off point to the river. It is actually much longer than that. It’s closer to 1/4 mile. One of our tubes popped within the first 5 minutes in the river. We didn’t know what to do. There’s no training on what to do if your tube pops. We didn’t have cell phones because we were floating down the river. No life jackets either. The guy whose tube popped had to walk the entire rest of the way in the river back to the end point. Feet cut up and bruised, water in his ears and exhausted. There is no one checking up on you. We reach the end of our trip and return our tubes, they tell us they are charging us $50 for the tube with a tear in it. I thought they were joking with us. They were not. I again asked for my receipt and copy of our contract. They would not provide it. I asked multiple times more for a copy of our receipt and a copy of our contract. They refused multiple times. This is not a customer friendly business. They started getting lippy and the owner came out. No sympathy whatsoever. It started to escalate. They told me to call the cops. I told them I was not going to do that because it was not a criminal matter, but it was a civil matter. I told them I’d be taking them to court. They told me that’s fine and to have my attorney send correspondence to their attorney. So unfortunately I’ll have to take them to small claims court over $50. The drivers who drove us to the drop off point were very nice though.
I had the worst tubing experience of my life there today. I've gone river tubing multiple times before and had a great time. First off, there was downed trees, deep holes, and sharp sticks littered over the whole river. I understand that is the DNRs responsibility to take care of, however we were not warned about this whatsoever despite half of our party being children. Due to the difficult terrain, we had to have someone guiding (physically pulling) us through the river. While we were annoyed at this point, we figured it wasn't a huge deal and managed to enjoy ourselves. During the final leg of our trip, it began to rain and thunderstorm. Obviously neither we, nor duggans had any control over the weather. After being on edge for the past several hours, we were all anxious to get out of the water (as well as because of the possibility of lightning). We were trying to pull the tubes up onto land, without employees assistance might I add, and some employee, sitting high and dry out of the rain had the audacity to say we shouldn't pull them by the handles unless we wanted to pay for them. We were all at our limit at this point. He continued to be rude and disrespectful to us saying we'd have an easier time if we hadn't tied our tubes together, and even tried to convince us we'd made a wrong turn (even though every fork in the road was essentially unable to turn down). Overall, this was an unpleasant experience and I would recommend whites in Standish, as their waterways don't require gymnastics to navigate and the employees tend to be helpful from my experience. Don't go here to river tube.
