Dukes Forest Campground Introduce

🌲 **Introduction / Overview: Your Quiet Lakeside Basecamp at Lake Murray**

**Dukes Forest Campground**, located within the expansive and beautiful **Lake Murray State Park**, offers Oklahoma residents a distinct camping experience focused on tranquility, space, and group recreation. Situated on the west side of Oklahoma's oldest and largest state park, Dukes Forest is known for being one of the **smaller and less trafficked campgrounds** in the area. This characteristic makes it an ideal retreat for those seeking a peaceful getaway, away from the busier, more crowded lakefront sites. As one camper noted, "It didn't have as many people as the other campgrounds around Lake Murray had," making it a perfect spot **if you like being away from people**.

The campground offers sites for both **RV and tent camping**, providing a valuable mix of accessibility for different visitor types. While the site is **not directly close to the water**, its forested location offers a beautiful, secluded atmosphere. The management staff are generally noted to be **nice** and committed to maintaining the area **clean and in working order**. However, like many older state park facilities, it is an area that is often cited as being **in need of an upgrade** by the State Park system—a sentiment shared by regular visitors who **host two huge camps per year here** and are **hopeful that the state will do the upgrade soon**.

Despite some areas needing modernization, the campground is valued for its reliable essentials. Campers who utilized the RV spots, even for tent camping, appreciated **having electricity and water nearby**. RV spots are generally reservable, while the dedicated **tent sites are first come first serve**. The park’s key strength lies in its spacious layout and dedicated areas for community use, which makes it particularly **great for groups** and those utilizing the sports facilities. Dukes Forest is a charming, slightly rustic slice of Lake Murray, highly recommended for its peace and potential for large gatherings.

Went here at the end of May and during a non-holiday weekend hoping to beat the heat and the crowds. We had good weather though it was a bit hot during the day and no wind. Duke's was a nice campground. It didn't have as many people as the other campgrounds around Lake Murray had, but it wasn't really close to the water. We tent camp but spent our stay at an RV spot. Having electricity and water nearby was nice. Tent camping sites were about 100yrds from bathrooms. Our site was a bit closer but not too close. Tent sites are first come first serve. RV spots as well but you can reserve them. Sites were fairly clean. Picnic tables are cement and pretty uncomfortable. Some RV sites were challenging to find places for a tent. If you like being away from people, with some slight separation from others, this was nice. The people managing the location were nice. Bathrooms were pretty good though it would have been nice if they would use a broom once in a while to clear out the spiders and other insects. Lake Murray is a nice place to visit. Hoping to return again!

Lake Murray is wonderful. Duke's Forest is one of the last campgrounds in need of an upgrade for the state park. We're hopeful that the state will do the upgrade soon. We host two huge camps per year here. They keep it clean and in working order ... Still hoping for upgrades 🤠

We love this place. We held our family reunion here and had 14 spots reserved. The campground is beautiful. There are walking trails that go down to the lake. There is a nice kids playground for the kiddoes and a nice backdrop for baseball or in our case, kickball. The bathhouse is typical of ml ost campgrounds (stinky and always wet). The rv spots are plenty long enough for larger rvs and even room for toads. Each spot has a picnic table, 30 amp service and water. The rv dump station is close enough in case you have to use a portable dump buggy. All in all we gave this place a strong 5 out of 5.

Great place to camp. I have attended two private events at this camping area. It’s a very nice area, bathrooms are decent, nice cove to swim, ball field and very close to highway and stores.
