Family Camping Activities for All Ages: Games, Hiking, and Campfire Fun
The legendary heart of Joshua Tree National Park.
Dunton River Camp offers an unparalleled experience for those seeking a perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and adventure. Nestled along the Dolores River in the beautiful state of Colorado, this intimate camping retreat provides a serene environment surrounded by stunning landscapes. With only 8 tents available, Dunton River Camp ensures a more personalized and secluded getaway compared to larger resorts.
Campers have praised the camp's ability to create a warm and inviting atmosphere despite its remote location. Many highlight the camp's intimate setting and knowledgeable staff in specific areas, such as outdoor activities and local lore. However, some guests note that there is room for improvement in service efficiency, particularly during peak dining times.
Overall, Dunton River Camp provides an exceptional base for exploring Colorado's outdoors while offering a comfortable and memorable stay. Whether you're seeking adventure or simply want to unwind in nature, Dunton River Camp delivers a unique experience that lingers long after departure.
Camp is absolutely beautiful. Tents and bed are very comfortable. Food was delicious. We left well rested fed and relaxed, However ....the service left much to be desired. They definitely needed another staff member to assist at dinner ( though the server at dinner was probably the most capable and experienced of the entire weekend). One server was mixing drinks, serving dinner and taking care of every table cannot possibly meet the standard of service you would expect at a 5 start resort. We had to ask multiple times for things we needed throughout the weekend. For the price I would expect exceptional service not that of a 3 star resort. I certainly hope they can elevate their service to the standard their guests will be coming to expect.
Dunton offers an incredible experience. The tents are very comfy in beautiful settings. The food is amazing. Dunton River Camp offers a more intimate setting than the hot springs as there are only 8 tents so fewer guests.
An absolutely beautiful place with luxurious tents! However... We were first of the season and they definitely weren't ready: no preference sheet, no handover between chefs, subpar comms to us regarding activities, simple things like hot chocolate missing, water in tents needed running for half hour to remove dirt from pipes, clock batteries were dead and they didn't replace them over 3 days of it laying open, limited beer selection, activity tent was not set up... We had a great time, but for the price this place did not tick all the boxes it should've easily ticked.
Best blend of rustic and modern. Surprises of both nature modern appointments around every corner.
Stopped in after a visit to Dunton. Always gorgeous and secluded!
