Was a great place to come for years! Back when Art ran the place. Kay was great. But then Art left, they stopped all nightly and tent camping. They got lazy and pushed out regular campers and fell into the “seasonal camping only” mindset. Not everyone can afford $3-4K a year to camp 5-6 times… So, sadly we will just have to live with the great memories we had of going to “The Roost”….

Love it here! Beach is small, but somewhat private. All the amenities: 2 bath houses, picnic areas, hook-ups for electrical 50A, water and sewer. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Very family friendly. Campers and spots open now if interested.

Here the last week of the season. Staff were fantastic,very pleasant and helpful. Site is wooded,but easy to pull our 30' travel trailer through. There is a nice picnic table and a fire ring. We were very close to the lake and were able to keep our kayaks tied to the dock. There are several bath houses very close and they were very clean. The only slight drawback was there is no sewer hookup but it didn't really give us much of a problem other than worrying about filling up our tanks. But after looking around at other campgrounds in the area it seems none of them have sewer hookup If we were to return to Smith Mountain Lake we would definitely stay here.
