The beach was pretty nice but full of vultures, and the water was shallow & rocky. Kayaked on the lake to the left of the beach down a river and saw lots of birds, including an eagle and eaglet. Fish were jumping everywhere ! Three deer visited the loop in the early a.m. The hill to the beach and boat launch is giant, so can't bike or carry kayaks to the water. There is a barbecue place and bait shop/pizza/ice cream near park entrance. We were able to ride bikes to it. Ice cream was all we tried but it was good. Sasquatch events 3rd Saturday in September. They look like fun. G loop has the most shaded sites but be aware some of the sites drop off from the camping pad. The bike path is another hill which isn't stated. It takes you to the water if you take the little path to the right of the sitting area.
Pros: Great campground, spacious sites with lots of shade, the campsites are divided into loops so it never feels crowded! There is a nice playground for kids in loop C. Nice bike trail and lots of hiking trails. The beach is small but it is only for campers so not too busy. Cons: bathroom could use some upgrades! Dump station only accommodates two RV’s at a time, so when is time to leave be prepared to spend an extra hour waiting in line to empty your tanks. Fresh water! Hard to find fresh water spigots in loops, must feel up at dump station before you set up for camping! Putt Putt is very small and it cost $3 dollars per person.
Had a wonderful time at this State Park. So many choices of sites for tent or RV camping. Personnel was great and very helpful. Enjoyed hiking and biking. Great place to bring horses and stay in Loop A
A large yet intimate park, with several spokes that each have their own bath facilities. Plenty of space between campsites. The grounds were clean and well maintained. The park staff extremely competent and very helpful. Especially Jana who went out of her way to help me out with an emergency even after office hours. I would camp here any time I’m in the area. The lots have plenty of shade trees and very few bugs, campfires rings, picnic tables, electric and level slabs at each site. I couldn’t ask for more.
For camping, I'll take the State Parks any day over the "RV resorts". Bigger sites, activities for the kids, full hookup sites spaced throughout all the different loops. Sites are big, clean, and bathroom/shower facilities spaced throughout. Will definitely be planning more trips here in the future.
I take my 13 year old son about 2-4 times a year and sometimes I take my mom with us. I can let him ride his bike without worrying to much except this past weekend their were some creepy guy and a lady doing drugs at their camp site (this was the first time that my son has ever told me about drugs being done their and I have never seen anyone doing any in the many years ive been coming here). Other than that, great place to camp and the only one I will ever go too, very spacious sites.
Clean, great variety for sites to accommodate your goals. Sites near playgrounds, sites that back into the woods for hot days or privacy, large groups. They have it all. Lake, great trails. CORA trails.
This a really nice campground. There is a private beach on the lake just for campers. This is a great place to bring your bikes because it’s a HUGE place and there is a little bike trail that leads to a beautiful view. Lots of hiking trails. THE BATHROOMS ARE CLEAN! Really clean. All sites are very well maintained. We love this place!
