This is a fantastic spot to camp. Water is warm, peaceful, and great for jet skis or boating. It can get hot and not much shade, so bring your own. Fishing used to be amazing, but it was recently drained and restocked. with no running water, but restrooms are cleaned regularly. The sites are large and mostly on the water.
I Love camping here! Sites are close to the water some have shade some don't so bring your own.
We heard about this place a while ago and finally went there. A caveat for our experience is that it was the drag boats weekend, so it was way more crowded than usual, according to the various regulars we talked to. This place is definitely way out there, which probably helps keep it less busy (on weekends other than Memorial/Labor/Drag Boats). The road from I5 is good enough, a bit rough and narrow in spots (but not a big deal), with a pretty long grade that we were not expecting. The grade up on the way there/down on the way out pretty much ends just when you're starting to worry about your engine and/or brakes temps climbing. Once you arrive, you may find that Google Maps and East Park Res' own campground maps really don't give you enough info to choose a site. Some spots are totally level whereas others are not at all, or anywhere in between. The campground maps have a lot of the sites marked not exactly where they are in reality...or, like in our case, since we arrived at 11:30pm, the campers on both sides crowded our site so we had little room (we ended up moving to a better site). Best thing is to go there and do a bunch of recon to find the choice spots for your setup--once you've gone once, you'll know where you want to go back. The water level was down a bit, according to the regulars, so our site was near water, but it was pretty grassy/swampy. We went elsewhere to swim and float. If the level is higher, this won't be an issue, supposedly. There are definitely all types out there--partyers, non-partyers, etc. There's not much enforcement, but there is a ranger presence. It gets hot, the trees are a bit spindly so shade is not easy to come by (some spots do have some, tho). I didn't see any potable or nonpotable water, so byo and expect pit toilets, although I didn't go in one. NO cell coverage whatsoever, not even texts/voice. All in all, a cool spot if you are prepared. We enjoyed it and will be back :)
First time here, and absolutely fell in love with this place. Great camping in water to be enjoyed by all. The sites are clean and maintain restrooms nearby. I already placed reservations for later on this year. Thanks again and see you soon.
East Park reservoir campground. General camping so you get to pick your spot $15 a day per overnight vehicle. They have three private campsites that can hold 50+ people easily $75. This is a popular camping place so reserve those spots early. Cons No running water, no electricity, and not a lot of shade at camp sites. There is restrooms but no water, just porta potties or outhouses. They do come to clean them. Pros The lake is great for everything, boats, water skiing, fishing was good (catch and release). The water is nice. You can find crawfish frogs but not a. You can have camp fires. Pet friendly. There are two small stores nearby. They do have dumpsters for trash at certain locations. My family had a great time, We have been here a few times. This time we actually stayed another day it was so nice. Advice coming early or even a day early to get a good campsite or reserve one of the private ones if you have a large group. Bring lots of water. Check the water level of the lake as it can change how far some campsites are from the water.
