This State park is a hidden gem to go to for peaceful visits and quiet beach walks along the State Parks RV Sites. This is our 4th visit in two years. A short walk from our RV Site to the local small privately owned restaurants and businesses within 1-mile either along the beach or main road from the RV sites. I highly recommend the “Marsh Moon Cafe” for breakfast or lunch. I’ve attached some pictures. The locals are very welcoming.
The (beach) campground has very nice access to the beach. Short walk from our site to the beach at designated access points. Campsites are too expensive, these are pushing hotel prices. While we were there in March, biting flies or gnats were common when the wind wasn’t blowing. We did not know this when we booked our sites but Edisto Beach State Park is a very dog friendly beach with designated times of the year where off-leash is allowed. When we were there, there were not many people (in March) which made it even better. The campground is very close to the grocery store and liquor store. Riding a bike to them is easy but it is also convenient to walk there. The gift shop had plenty of items to take back with you along with bug spray, fire wood, and ice cream. The camp ground hosts were pleasant and circulated around to ready sites for the next campers. The town itself has a handful of restaurants. We ate at Whaley’s which is the towns dive bar but their fried oysters were top notch! Their beer selection tended towards mainstream American lagers but they had an interesting option or two on the menu.
Amazing place to camp. I could literally not ask for more. We were in RV site 3, which is not flat at all but goes up and back down again. It is flat enough for tent camping though. Site 3 is literally around the corner from beach access but is still very private. You hear the waves on the beach crash all night. It was very quiet. FoodLion is right outside of the campground, so I'd suggest not bringing food if you are traveling a long distance with out a lot of space. Dog friendly if on a leash.
It's one of my favorite SC State Parks. The beach campground is set in the dunes and is merely steps from your campsite to the beach. The park staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful. A beautiful beachfront store and office are just steps outside the campground, in the public area of the park, with a convenient grocery market across the street from the park entrance. I highly recommend this park!
The bathrooms are cleaned regularly. The beach is always nice. The campsites are sand as are the roads.
