This fam camp is in need of attention. It offers 30A electric hookups, but water is non-potable. The bathrooms/showers were in rough shape, and only one of the three had toilet paper. The laundry room is locked, and peering through the window you can see all the machines are unplugged, so I would not anticipate them going back into service. And yes, the bugs are pretty fierce as you’d expect anywhere near water. On the plus side, Eielson has full facilities including a nice gym.
How sad. Nobody answers phones during hours actually listed in the recording. Find the building marked Outdoor Recreation only to be told they weren't there, they were at the campground? Phone outside the office at the campground is dead. No forms or information to be found. Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend and no water at the park, on top of the "water not drinkable" signs everywhere. Trees down across sites, just looks like a mess. Hands down the worst looking FamCamp I've run across in our travels. Didn't even stay on the base. For something that should be a crown jewel of USAF FamCamps in a place like Alaska, it looks like an afterthought to check a box off someone's list.
We love the park as much as the mosquitoes do. It would be a huge improvement if you could at least get water to the dump station. Install a big sign stating "non-potable". Also, repair the washers in the laundry room. None have worked since we arrived a week ago.
This AF Fam Camp is rustic. They don't have sewage at any of the sites due to the high water table BUT they do have a black tank dump station.
Nice area but during the summer the mosquitoes will be a major annoyance.
