Equipment is allowed to be set up in an unsafe manner, and still used even after severe injury to a camper (~50% of the camper's body burned in a gas explosion fire from a propane, tankless water heater installed in a garden shed without proper ventilation. Camper spent a couple weeks in a burn unit ICU before dying). Supposedly, the owners and friends have modified things to be safe, but do you really trust the modifications being made by people who thought it was a good idea to install a propane gas line into an enclosed space with equipment that has a boiler operated by flame? I'm a big fan of DIY projects, except when the project has the potential to kill people when done incorrectly and the people doing the DIY project don't seem to know what they are doing. Use facilities at this property at your own risk. Teamwork makes the dream work until it turns into a nightmare and you or your loved ones get severely injured due to incompetence.
Decent place for large scale events. Haven't tried the showers but water supply across the site is good.

Elchenburg Castle is home to War of the Wings in October. Other times of the year it hosts SCA events like the Kingdom of Atlantia Coronation. It's a large spacious space that accommodates large numbers of guests. I also like how it's a convenient drive only minutes from I-77.
One of my favorite places. I have attended multiple large events with my organization here. Nice places to camp, good facilities for showering. It's clean and large. Drive 14 hours from Massachusetts to attend and don't regret it.
