We had an amazing experience staying at one of the cabins. The location is very close to redwood national park. (However I would advise to break your stay in two parts and stay in Crescent city as well to cover some famous hikes nearby.) We got to see amazing Roosevelt Elks right outside our cabin. Cabin was cozy, clean, spacious and had all basic amenities. Bed was comfortable, shower had good water pressure and hot water. Having kitchenette was very convenient to make light meals (since there are no food options near by).
This was a gem of our redwoods vacation. The cabin is nicely updated on the inside with fully stocked kitchen to cook meals, comfortable beds, and cozy living space. Outside amenities were great too - shared fire pit and hot tub plus tons of lawn games. My kids had a blast. The staff is prompt and helpful. Prime location to great redwoods hikes (prairie creek, fern canyon) and only 45-60min to both eureka and crescent city. The most amazing part is the elk right outside the house (they migrate so only happened one of the days we stayed). Stock up on food before you come because downtown Orick and the local store leave much to be desired. I highly recommend Elk Meadow Cabins!
Lovely area, clean, super comfortable and appreciated assist with lock box which we could not open. Very quiet and lovely. Only drawback was small shower, but 13B is probably the smallest cabin, so understandable. Towels and linens good quality. Kitchen awesome. We only needed a few items and all provided. Would stay again.
We stayed at Oreq-B the smaller part of a duplex. It would have been a 5 star if the bed wasn’t broken. Turns out the box spring was broken as the previous guests also mentioned in the guestbook, so after 2 nights of horrible sleep, the bed frame leg gave out on us! They immediately fixed the bed so the service is excellent. Location is great even right off 101, it’s quiet at night and elks do stroll by. The duplex has a large completely fenced off yard with electric fence so our dogs were able to enjoy the yard safely, even when a huge elk walked by! We didn’t hear the guests in the next unit at all except kids running around. The unit has everything we needed and it’s very charming and cozy. I only wish there’s more hanging capacity for clothes and if the TV allows streaming, but that’s really not that important at all. I highly recommend the duplex if staying with medium to large sized dogs.
We rented 4 cabins, both A and B sides to host our family for our redwood wedding "elopement". The cabins were incredible. They felt bigger than they looked and were very cozy and charming. Everything was clean on arrival and the check in process was easy. Each cabin was uniquely decorated and it was fun to just walk around and look at all the different paintings and knick knacks scattered around! The A units were 3 bedrooms with a kitchen while the B units were more like a studio. If renting both sides, a door can be opened to freely move between them and mingle. Came in very handy. Because of the remoteness of the area, cellular service was nonexistent for most of us, but they do provide free wifi and they have landlines in each cabin as well. But also because of the remoteness, it was quiet and peaceful. We booked the cabins about a year in advance and Bogart made the whole process so smooth and was incredibly flexible with us the week before our stay due to some unforeseen circumstances. He was so patient with our millions of questions and super helpful about the surrounding areas. They had no problems dealing with our large group as well. Holly and her cleaning staff were wonderful as well and helpful with questions day of. Super accommodating and friendly! We also used a couple of the cabins as the getting ready suites before our ceremony. It was very easy to fit in 6 ladies as well as a MUA, hair stylist and photographer and not feel super cramped. For any future couples planning small and intimate ceremonies in the more northern parts of Redwoods National and State Parks, this place was a perfect spot to stay, get ready and regroup at later. They also host weddings as well! Just be sure to ask about this first and get management approval so you don't show up with unauthorized people on property! I would suggest stocking up on food before arriving as the nearest market doesn't have a large selection and the closest "big name" grocers are about 30-40 minutes away. While not always a guarantee, there's a reason they are called Elk Meadow Cabins and we had truly the most magical mornings watching the elk travel across the yards to eat and rest. Overall we could not recommend Elk Meadow Cabins enough and will definitely be back!! PC: HazelEyePhotography by Aly
