Customer Reviews
We were there over the 4th of July with my brothers family. We each have 2 large 5th wheels. This campground is not designed for campers. The slots are very narrow. Our first spot had bad wiring at the post. We hooked up and it started smoking. They did give us the option of going to another one of their campgrounds, which we did. Whitney, at Kozy Camp, was awesome and tried to be very helpful. The other site also had narrow slots. Nice place for tent camping, river is nice, but I would not go with an rv.
Did a river float yesterday. Joe in the front office was very helpful and Mark our shuttle driver was helpful getting us launched into the water.
I would not recommend this campground to anyone and it was nothing like I was expecting. If you’re going to go, there’s no point of getting one of their tiny cabins, and just be sure to bring your own toilet paper and soap for your trip to use their bathroom. The staff was kind and easy going except for some guy named Rylen(?) who was extremely rude. There’s lots of other campgrounds around…pick a different one.
Starting with the “good” - the gentleman at the front desk at Trestle Park and the lady at Kozy Kamp were very nice. We had originally booked at Trestle, but showed up and noticed it is definitely not a camper + family friendly campground. The front desk staff suggested Kozy Kamp instead (we booked online- Very misleading.) We then drove to Kozy Kamp and spoke to the lady at the front desk. She was very nice. She helped us to find a campsite that would work with our camper. This is where the “good” ends. We camp a LOT. However, this is by far the trashiest campground we have been to yet. The sites are all grass- no gravel.. so everything was wet constantly, and they had mowed the grass probably a week before, and all of the grass clippings were sitting on top of the still long grass, which made everything very messy. The lady at the desk said if we wanted a picnic table, they’d deliver one.. but as we drove through the campground, they were all broken and in horrible shape. We looked around and found one that was at least able to be sat at (but it still had a hole in the top. Thankfully I have picnic table top and bench covers) I’ve never seen so many homemade tents and just blatant disregard for posted campground rules. People drove wherever they pleased (sometimes needing to because there were holes in the gravel road which made a pond after the rain) homemade as in several of them were pop up canopies with plastic wrapped around it. Fireworks at literally all hours of the night INSIDE the campground. People laying all over with their blow up mattresses (like the bed kind, not the float kind) just spread out on the grass. The “access” to the water is lined with weeds and poison everything (ivy and sumac were instantly noticed) maybe spray it and kill the weeds to make an actual path? It’s about knee deep at best here, so swimming is not really an option if that’s what you’re looking for. We had to walk into someone else’s campsite to dump our camper tanks. There’s no pull through dump station- it’s right at the entrance to the campground, so we blocked traffic as we emptied the tanks. We had to turn around, back up to the dump station (and I say that SO lightly- It’s just a pipe sticking out of the ground and the water spigot is about 15 feet away from it) Then after we finished, had to turn around again to get out. I would NOT choose this campground if you are traveling with a camper. We left a day early because none of my kids slept because of the constant noise. Did I call the desk about it? No- because the guy who was driving the side-by-side Friday night through the campground (a camp employee) Was stopping to party with people and drinking a beer while driving around. So I assumed complaining would be a lost cause. I was also trying to give people the benefit of the doubt.. like maybe around midnight or 1 they’d stop. They didn’t. We aren’t prudes. We like music and to drink too.. but holy crap. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. If you’re looking for a party site with no regard for rules or boundaries- here you go! I understand now why there are no refunds. I would bet that we aren’t the first and won’t be the last people to show up and instantly know the booking was a mistake that we were unfortunately stuck with.
Had a wonderful time over the weekend! Of course we went on the hottest weekend of the whole year.so the tiny window units in our cabin didn’t quite cut it! However, I’m still giving it 5 stars since we had a blast!
Some nuance is required for giving a proper rating to Kozy Kamp. I've been going for a number of years and have for the most part enjoyed my experience. I do however have several complaints that are worth noting to anyone that are considering using their campgrounds and float service. First, they have an absolutely no money back returns policy. If you are unable to, or by act of God/nature are unable to to make your reservations the best that you can hope for is a non-refundable voucher for similar services later in the same season. SAME season. If you are unable to make it back up into missouri, you are simply out money. Due to severe flooding, my group was unable to float, and many of us were unable to even make use of our camp services. This year, due to significant rainfall I was unable to have a float, and was requested to leave the camp before my camp time paid for had concluded. (You are required to pay for two nights through the weekends). Additionally, normal amenities such as water at the cleaning station near the restrooms, and many of the restrooms were turned off. The lights were also non-functional, and since most of the time spent at the camp is going to be at night/evenings, bathrooms in the darkness are less than ideal. I was further incredibly annoyed by the fact that many of the cabins, which had no occupants in them due to inclement weather, had fire alarm chirps going throughout the night. This is absurd, and makes getting to sleep difficult. I like kozy kamp, but these nuisances along with the distance from my home makes me unlikely to return.
This place has went to he'll. You pay the exact same price to have an rv set up on the property as you pay for someone in a tent. Westayedin the cabins knowing they were basic. They had holes in the building. They had to switch us cabins after they found a broken water line. Then we get switched to another cabin that had no hot water, and their fix for that was too shut off the cold water. The staff were friendly. We only stayed one night after having to book for two nights because of their weekend policy. When we asked the day before they said kayaks and rafts only on river. Said kayaks weren't allowed on river. Made 2 people have to pay 160 dollars for a 6 mile float trip. Every other camp let canoes and kayaks down the river. This place is a joke and is only out for the money. We will never stay there again. Everything is run down. No access to the river without walking through poison Ivy and other weeds that are 4foot high. Would not recommend this camp ground anymore. So many more nicer places to stay. Every year they just keep getting worse and worse. I'd also look and make sure, that where your staying is not owned by the same people. Worst camp in Pineville. All they are out for is to get your money. Don't stay in the cabins they are worthless. Also they said there was fire rings for a fire pit, but never even seen one. They said alot of stuff when we was booking, that came to be all lies. This placehaswent down hill very badly.
