Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey Introduce

For North Carolinians embarking on long journeys or simply seeking a convenient and peaceful escape in the eastern part of the state, the Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey offers an ideal solution. Strategically located just off I-95, this campground serves as an excellent stopover point for travelers heading north or south, as well as a quiet base for local explorers. Nestled amidst cotton, tobacco, and peanut fields, it provides a tranquil rural setting that belies its close proximity to the interstate. While it may possess a "Journey" classification, designed for overnight stays, it still offers a welcoming atmosphere and essential amenities to ensure a comfortable visit.

The Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey is known for its practicality and quiet charm. Many locals and travelers appreciate its easy access from I-95, making it a stress-free choice after a long day on the road. Despite its proximity to the highway, guests often remark on the surprising tranquility of the campground, particularly in the RV areas. While some aspects may appear more "rustic" compared to larger KOA Resorts, its core offerings – clean facilities, convenient hookups, and a welcoming environment – make it a solid choice. For North Carolina residents, this KOA is more than just a place to rest; it's a reliable, peaceful hub that offers a comfortable respite and a taste of the serene countryside that characterizes much of eastern North Carolina.

Location and Accessibility

Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey is precisely located at 18562 NC-481, Enfield, NC 27823, USA. Its most significant advantage is its exceptional accessibility, being less than a mile and often described as "3/4 mile off I-95" via Exit 154 for Enfield. This prime location makes it an extremely convenient stop for anyone traveling the I-95 corridor, serving as a popular halfway point for long-distance trips, particularly between the Northeast states and Florida.

The campground’s address places it in a rural area of Halifax County, surrounded by agricultural fields, which contributes to its quiet ambiance. While the direct access to the interstate is a major benefit for road-weary travelers, it's worth noting that some tent sites located closer to the front of the campground might experience some ambient traffic noise from I-95. However, RV sites, generally situated further back, are typically very quiet. The drive from the exit to the campground is straightforward, making it easy to navigate, even for those arriving late at night or with large rigs. For North Carolina locals, this means a quick and easy drive from many parts of the state, providing a stress-free start or end to a camping trip without venturing far off major highways. The rural setting also offers a pleasant break from urban environments, even for a short stay.

Very convenient to I-95. A bit rustic for KOA, limited amenities and no staff at all. We called at 5:15 on a Saturday to advise that we would be arriving late and the office was closed with a simple message that we should call back during office hours. No after-hours contact or ability to leave a message. Closed on Sundays. We had made our reservation on the KOA app the same day we arrived and luckily there was an envelope with our name on it at the office when we arrived around 8pm. Simple pull-through site was unlevel and grass/gravel but did the trick for a one-night stopover. Dumped tanks and headed out around 10am the next day. Never saw any staff; was pretty empty on the weekend. Doubt anyone comes here except I-95 travelers stopping over (there were a few older trailers that appeared to be full time / long term residents in the back). It is less than 5 minutes from the expressway but very quiet. Couldn't hear the traffic at all. Definitely would consider as a stopover in the future. Halfway between NY/NJ and Florida so convenient for that.

This is a nice campground easily located by 95 but that isn't great if you are tenting. The tent sites are located in the front of the campground and you hear the traffic noise. When we went to bed we played noise on our phone at full blast to try to drown out the noise from 95. Eventually we were able to go to sleep. The 24-hour laundry room was easily accessible while maintained and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the beautiful pool was not open due to some circumstances beyond their control, but hopefully should be open soon. The 10 sites are actually pretty nice and have picnic tables undercover and a hydrant in the middle of the temp sites. There's also a nice volleyball area and children's playground. They're quite a few camping sites for trailers with electric and water. The restrooms are clean and have an access code.

Very accommodating as we were having truck issues on our way to Florida. They let us add nights as we were getting our truck fixed. We’ve stayed here in the past and we’ll be back again. It’s nice that it’s not right next to I-95. No traffic noise. Quiet area.

We were just passing through. It was a during a heat wave and all I could think about was cooling off in the pool. It was pricey for a campground with basically no amenities. The pool was closed all day. Even the office was closed all day. Our check in info was in an envelope tacked up outside the office door. We don’t have kids so the playground didn’t interest us. The bathroom was clean and suitable. But the campsites were close together and we ended up just sitting inside our camper with the ac on from when we arrived until we left. Way too expensive for essentially a place to park. Usually KOA campgrounds have amenities. This one was a disappointment.
