Hello, fellow Missouri explorers and road-trippers! If you're navigating the beautiful landscapes of our state in your recreational vehicle, you know the importance of finding the perfect "campground." For RV enthusiasts, a campground isn't just a place to park; it's a temporary home, a community, and a base for adventure. Today, we're taking a closer look at Evening Shade RV Park, a notable destination conveniently located in Clinton, Missouri, offering a dedicated space for your RV adventures in the heart of the Show-Me State.
A campground, in its broadest sense, is a designated area for temporary lodging in an outdoor setting. However, when we talk about an "RV park" like Evening Shade, we're referring to a specialized type of campground specifically designed to accommodate recreational vehicles. This means it typically offers essential services such as electrical hookups (30 and 50 amp), water connections, and sewer hookups, providing all the comforts of home on the road. RV parks often feature level concrete or gravel pads, ensuring a stable and easy setup for your rig. They can range from basic sites to those offering a plethora of amenities like laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and recreational areas. Evening Shade RV Park positions itself as a place where RVers can find a spot to settle in, whether for a quick overnight stop or a longer stay to explore the surrounding Missouri attractions. The emphasis on being an RV park means it's tailored to the unique needs of those traveling in motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers, providing the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable and convenient stay.
Evening Shade RV Park is strategically located at 499 SE Hwy U, Clinton, MO 64735, USA. This address places it in Clinton, a vibrant city in Henry County, Missouri, renowned for its proximity to Truman Lake, one of Missouri's largest lakes and a major hub for outdoor recreation, including fishing, boating, and hiking.
The park's location on SE Highway U ensures excellent accessibility for RVers traveling through Missouri. Highways leading into Clinton, such as US-7, US-13, and MO-52, are well-maintained and RV-friendly, making the journey to Evening Shade RV Park straightforward from various parts of the state and beyond. For locals in Missouri, particularly those living in the Kansas City metropolitan area, Columbia, or Springfield, Clinton is a manageable drive, making Evening Shade RV Park an ideal destination for weekend getaways or longer vacations. The ease of access means less time navigating complex routes and more time enjoying your destination. Being near Truman Lake further enhances its appeal, offering immediate access to a wealth of water-based activities and scenic beauty, which is a significant draw for many RV campers looking for a mix of relaxation and adventure. The convenience of its location makes it a practical and appealing choice for any RVer exploring the heart of Missouri.
As a dedicated RV park, Evening Shade RV Park aims to provide the essential services and amenities that RVers require for a comfortable and convenient stay. Based on common expectations for RV parks and the nature of the reviews, you can anticipate the following services:
- Full Hookup RV Sites: The primary service offered would be sites equipped with full utility hookups, including electricity (likely 30 amp and/or 50 amp options), water, and sewer connections. This allows RVers to fully utilize their onboard facilities without needing to frequently move or dump tanks.
- Spacious RV Lots: RV parks typically provide designated, often level, parking pads for various sizes of RVs, accommodating everything from smaller travel trailers to large motorhomes. While not explicitly stated in reviews, the nature of an RV park suggests this is a core offering.
- On-Site Management/Presence: The mention of an "owner" (Dee) engaging with visitors on a golf cart indicates an active on-site management presence. This means there's likely someone available to assist with check-ins, answer questions, and manage the park's operations, contributing to a more organized experience.
- Rules and Regulations Orientation: One review specifically highlights that "Dee was very pleasant and informative. She took a lot of time explaining to us the rules." This indicates that the park has clear operational guidelines and that management takes the time to communicate these to guests, fostering an orderly environment.
- Acceptance/Availability Process: The review noting "so happy we got accepted to have a spot" suggests that there might be an application or availability check process, possibly indicating a focus on long-term stays or a popular park that often has limited immediate openings.
- Customer Service Interaction: While one review praises the "pleasant and informative" interaction with Dee, another describes a "rude" encounter regarding availability. This highlights that direct customer service is a key aspect of the park's operations, and interactions with the management are a significant part of the guest experience.
It is common for RV parks to also offer amenities like Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and potentially communal areas, although these were not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Prospective guests should inquire directly about these additional services if they are important for their stay.
Evening Shade RV Park distinguishes itself with several features that contribute to the overall experience for RV campers in Missouri:
- Dedicated RV-Focused Environment: Unlike mixed campgrounds that cater to tents, RVs, and cabins, Evening Shade RV Park is specifically designed for recreational vehicles. This means the infrastructure and services are tailored to the unique needs of RVers, offering appropriate site sizes, hookups, and accessibility for various rig types.
- On-Site Owner/Manager Presence: The active involvement of the owner, as described in reviews, is a significant highlight. Dee's presence and direct interaction with guests suggest a hands-on approach to management, which can lead to a well-maintained and orderly park. A dedicated manager on-site can also be a valuable resource for local information and assistance.
- Emphasis on Rules and Order: The fact that rules are clearly explained and enforced indicates a structured and potentially more peaceful environment. For many RVers, a well-run park with clear guidelines contributes to a more relaxing and predictable stay, free from disruptive behavior.
- Potential for Long-Term Stays: The review mentioning being "accepted to have a spot" hints that the park might cater to longer-term residents or seasonal campers, in addition to transient guests. This could create a more stable community feel within the park.
- Proximity to Truman Lake: While not a feature of the park itself, its close location to Truman Lake is a major highlight for campers. This provides easy access to vast opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, and other water-based recreation, significantly enhancing the value of a stay at Evening Shade RV Park for outdoor enthusiasts.
- Direct and Personal Interactions: Both positive and negative reviews indicate that interactions with the park management are very direct and personal. For campers who appreciate a more intimate and less corporate experience, this can be a distinguishing factor.

For Missouri residents traveling in their RVs, Evening Shade RV Park in Clinton offers a suitable and often convenient option for both short-term stops and longer stays. Its primary appeal lies in its dedicated focus on RVs, meaning that the facilities and services are specifically tailored to meet the needs of those on the road, providing essential full hookups (electricity, water, sewer) that are crucial for a comfortable RV experience. This specialization sets it apart from more generalized campgrounds that might not offer the same level of convenience for RVers.
The park's location in Clinton, Missouri, is a significant advantage for locals. Clinton acts as a gateway to Truman Lake, a vast recreational paradise that draws visitors from across the state for its exceptional fishing, boating, and other water sports. For Missourians seeking to explore this popular destination, Evening Shade RV Park provides an easily accessible and comfortable base. Instead of worrying about long commutes to recreational spots, locals can enjoy quick access to all that Truman Lake and the surrounding area have to offer, maximizing their leisure time.
Furthermore, the presence of on-site management, as evidenced by interactions with "Dee," suggests a hands-on approach to running the park. While experiences can vary, the fact that rules are clearly communicated indicates an effort to maintain an orderly and perhaps quieter environment, which many RVers value for a peaceful stay. For local Missourians who prefer a park where management is present and attentive, this can be a strong draw. The possibility of longer-term stays also means that locals who might need a temporary home base or a seasonal spot close to their favorite fishing or outdoor activities can potentially find a welcoming community here.
While one review highlights a less positive initial interaction, the existence of a highly positive review praising the pleasantness and informativeness of the owner suggests that the park strives for good customer service and a welcoming atmosphere, especially for those who are "accepted" into the park. For locals looking for a straightforward, functional, and conveniently located RV park near one of Missouri's premier outdoor attractions, Evening Shade RV Park presents a viable option to consider for their next adventure on the road.

Customer Reviews
Evening Shade RV Park! Dee was very pleasant and informative. She took a lot of time explaining to us the rules. I am so happy we got accepted to have a spot in her park. She is so awesome!!
My husband and I were looking for an RV park and wanted to look at ones in the area. We drove into this park and the “owner” came up to us on her golf cart and was quite rude. She asked what we were doing and then said they had nothing available. We thanked her and then she very was snippy and said we needed to exit the same way we came in and actually waited at the entrance for us to turn around and leave. I totally get looking out for the property, but being rude is not necessary. After that encounter I wouldn’t stay there even if there was an opening.
Loved this little campground at first. We bought a site for a year. But they crept up the prices. Then their son burnt huge piles of leaves right next to the campers/trailers. The one directly in front of our camper melted our windshield seals and cracked the driver's windshield, which cost us $1000 to replace.
The lady is lovely and nice! Very good rv park
Great place Professionally operated by Fantastic people. Yet Feels like home.
