Evening Star Campground, Stockton Lake, MO Introduce

A Warm Welcome to Evening Star Campground: Your Stockton Lake Home Base

For Missourians seeking the perfect blend of lakeside recreation and convenient, family-friendly camping, Evening Star Campground at Stockton Lake offers an exceptional choice. Nestled close to the stunning, clear waters of Stockton Lake—a favorite for sailing, fishing, and boating enthusiasts across the Ozarks region—this campground is designed as a relaxing, full-service retreat. The motto, “Welcome Home,” truly encapsulates the atmosphere of comfort and community the owners aim to cultivate.

Evening Star Campground provides a desirable alternative to state park camping, offering a focus on amenities and a tight-knit community feel. It’s particularly suited for extended stays, whether monthly or seasonal, appealing to those who frequent the lake for its superb walleye, crappie, and bass fishing. Beyond the standard utility hookups, the park goes the extra mile to provide features that make camping feel more like a vacation resort, including dedicated recreational areas and convenient on-site services like laundry and a full shower house. It truly provides a great launching point for a full day of activities on the lake or a peaceful evening gathered around a community fire pit watching an outdoor movie.

However, it is vital for new visitors to note an important aspect of its natural environment, particularly in the forested Ozarks area. One customer review mentioned concerns about the prevalence of ticks. While tick prevention is a general responsibility for anyone enjoying the Missouri outdoors, especially near wooded areas and lakeshores, potential guests should be proactive. Wearing insect repellent, performing thorough tick checks after outdoor activities, and treating clothing are strongly advised to ensure a comfortable and safe stay, allowing visitors to focus on the peaceful enjoyment of the natural surroundings.

Location and Accessibility

Evening Star Campground is strategically located near one of the most popular recreational spots on the lake. The official address is: 38 Evening Star Lp, Dadeville, MO 65635, USA. This places the campground just 2 miles east of the Mutton Creek Public Use Area at Stockton Lake. Mutton Creek is well-known to locals as a major access point for the lake, featuring boat ramps and excellent fishing.

The location in Dadeville, Missouri, makes it easily accessible from major southwestern Missouri cities. It is conveniently situated off State Highway 215 and County Highway Y, ensuring a straightforward drive for visitors traveling from areas like Springfield, Joplin, and Bolivar. Despite its proximity to a major public use area, the campground itself maintains a secluded, private feel, surrounded by the peaceful, rolling terrain characteristic of the Missouri Ozarks. Drive times from major cities include approximately 45 minutes from Springfield and a little over an hour from Joplin, making it a viable weekend escape destination for many Missouri residents.

What is Worth Choosing Evening Star Campground

Evening Star Campground is highly worth choosing for Missouri residents who prioritize convenience and high-quality amenities in a beautiful lake setting. The key differentiator is the combination of full-service RV sites (30/50 AMP, water, sewer) and the exceptional community-focused features. Few local campgrounds offer the luxury of an on-site zip line, a community fire pit with an outdoor TV, and the convenience of modern, clean laundry and shower facilities. The ease of access to Stockton Lake—especially the boat parking with electric charging—makes it a dream location for boat owners and avid fishermen.

While awareness of the regional need for tick precautions is necessary for any nature-based outing in the Ozarks, the overall environment is peaceful and well-equipped. The campground caters specifically to families and long-term campers, fostering a "Welcome Home" atmosphere that encourages socializing and relaxing evenings. For those seeking a well-run, full-featured basecamp for enjoying the fishing, sailing, and natural beauty of Stockton Lake, Evening Star Campground provides an excellent, amenity-rich choice.

Well if you like lots of ticks the kind that carry that illness where you can't tolerate red meat any longer. Nice place to get it due to the fact that owner doesn't want to put spray down.

They were so accommodating. We really enjoyed the space, and the kitchen had everything I needed. The bed was comfy, the place was clean, and the kids loved the Zipline and fishing! We did bring a little blowup mattress and a pack n play to fit our five kids there with us, but it was a great little getaway!

The zipline will leave brusises between your legs but it's all about the experience. Pretty nice shower/toilet hut. It's a nice place to spend a few days away from society.
