Not rating "rooms" though they've got cabins. Great people, I've met folks I've known directly and indirectly from all corners of Maine. If you're looking for a family campground or to hang out with your friends it passes muster. Great owners interested in your camping experience. I passed on this place 20 yrs ago, it was dark and dreary. These new owners have made this a markee landing for campers now and likely to continue into the future.

We stopped to visit with friends and met the owners- Amazing people Jimmy and Jodi are so wonderful. They have totally changed the camp grounds, nice entry road in, opened up the sites to add sun light. Sites are very nice. Can't wait for the bar and restaurant to open. Will not be disappointed

Evergreens Campground has a few pros and cons. Pros: Campground and trailer sites are directly next to the beautiful Kennebec River. Sites are spacious and very level. Scenery is wonderful. The owners are new and very nice. Cons: Campground is noisy beyond belief. There is a main road alongside and directly across from the campground. Every Local Yokel /Hick that has a noisy truck or stock car, finds it necessary to punch their engines and race down the road. The noise at times was liking being at a racetrack; it was awful. It ruined the tranquility of the campground. The bath house/ restrooms at the campground are very antiquated and extremely hot inside due to poor ventilation. Also, there are no locks on the stall doors which I found very uncomfortable. Locks are cheap at the store. I have no idea why they don't replace the missing locks? The campground has no sewage hookups at the sites, you must use the dump station. All in all we had a nice weekend. I'm sure the new owners will make the necessary upgrades and improvements over time.

I've been looking for a way to see the 3,000 year old Native American/ First Nations petroglyphs at the Hogden archeological site. Information on it is limited, probably to reduce risk of vandalism. Thrilled to discover Evergreens Campground, which BTW is located on the Evergreen archeological site, a summer encampment of Native Americans/ First Nations people spanning at least 3,000 years. The campground is beautiful, quiet, rents high quality kayaks and canoes. The water was clean and warm. I swam across the river to see the petroglyphs, while my friends kayaked to it. Disclaimer, I am an experienced/ strong swimmer, but the current can be swift/ strong. Be mindful of trying to swim, dependent on water conditions. The cost of canoe rental at the time I went was $60 and kayaks $35. Both included good quality life vests, Old Town and Cabellas products. There is also a shuttle service to pick you up diwn river if you would like. I also saw people tubing down the river. Staff were very nice and helpful. They are as of July 2024> refurbishing the restaurant. It looks like it will be a great little cabin style eatery> with a bar/ taps when finished. I did not camp there, but there are individual cabins, rv sites and pop tent sites available. Everything looked clean, good repair, cozy. Very quiet, peaceful atmosphere with fish jumping, eagles and water birds like Merganser. Surrounded by nature and forest. Plenty of shade, grassy areas and safe water access for swimming or launching canoe/ kayak/ boat w no draft as the river is shallow along sides. Small pebble river rock is not too bad to walk on getting in and out of the water.
