I always stay at Marriott hotels because of the exceptional service and amenities they offer. It was disappointing to find the pool closed—especially when traveling with a large group that included children—and the amenities did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, we were informed that the pool would open the following day. Since we were traveling for sports and had little time to explore alternative options before the tournament, we accepted this explanation. Long story short, the pool was not operational during our stay, despite being one of the main reasons we booked the hotel. At checkout, the General Manager was neither helpful nor apologetic regarding the issue. Later, I discovered online that the pool had been down for over a week before our booking. In hindsight, I should not have switched from the Courtyard. This does not appear to be an isolated incident. The amenity should be removed from booking options until it is fully functional, ensuring that guests can make informed decisions about their accommodations.

Stayed 1 night at the location in Mt Pleasant Michigan Called prior to arriving to make sure pool was open was told it was and would be, upon arrival was told the pool was closed for maintenance ( Disappointing after calling to verify) bathroom had mold on the corners and on molding . Curtains did not close so slept wondering if people could see in especially since on the lower level. Fridge in room did not work someone was supposed to take a look still never worked properly. Walkways not shoveled or salted during overnight snow fall. Overall not impressed. Breakfast was decent.

This is a pretty typical old, outdated hotel. Does not fit the standards for most Marriott properties I’ve stayed at, and you’re much better off at the Courtyard nearby if you have the option. The hotel itself is safe, location is fine and just off campus, but very outdated and not the cleanest. We had multiple box elders and stink bugs in our room, in the curtains, etc…which it is the season for right now, but you would expect a hotel to be better sealed from insects. Breakfast is included and was decent.

I’ve stayed here many times in the past, precovid. I have family in the area. Never have had any issues previously. This place has gone downhill majorly. The person working the desk upon check in was helpful and nice. The hotel itself has not been maintained and is a total DUMP for a Marriott. Ice machine broken, pool not operational, room and hotel smells old and mildewy. Upgraded to a suite, woohoo……minus the cockroaches…..moved the mini fridge and found it hadn’t been cleaned under, probably ever….dog food pieces-we aren’t traveling with a dog and large pieces of broken glass. Hair in the “clean” shower. The striker plate for the door, so the door locks, wasn’t secured and we couldn’t get our door to lock. My husband hand tightened it down as much as he could to get the door to close and lock. Mind you this was all on Christmas and it was later when we checked in. The hotel only had 8 rooms occupied, with one other being my other family members. Brought up all of our issues to the front desk and the person seemed very embarrassed. She took pictures with her phone of the pictures I had taken documenting the issues and said she’d let management know. I had figured management may reach out, after all it’s a Marriott…..haven’t heard a thing, no email about how was your stay nor were sorry for the roach issue etc….but I did receive a receipt so they definitely have my email address lol I wish I would have read the recent reviews. We would have never stayed here again. We had used our previous precovid experiences and had no idea it had gone that downhill. We have been staying at the newer Marriott property across the street the last few times when we’ve visited. We had been sent a “Black Friday sale” for Marriott and had gotten a discount at this property and not the other and didn’t flinch staying there due to our past good experiences. Hopefully this is not indicative of the Marriott brand post covid…..very disappointed and grossed out.

Terrible room and not worth 150.00 per night. I've stayed at hotels way better for 80.00 and under. The staff didn't have breakfast ready, and he said he didn't know how to set up the waffles. Toilet barely flushed. There was literally crap on the toilet, and the bed was uncomfortable, as were the pillows that were also too small. We will never be back here again.
