Fancy Gap / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Journey

This is a great campground in a beautiful setting, literally right next to the Blue Ridge Parkway and a short drive to Mayberry (Mt. Airy). Sites have plenty of room, utilities work well and everything was functional and very clean. But the best thing about this campground is the staff - wonderfully friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!

We had an great evening and enjoyed the pool, fishing, gem mining, and making smores at our fire pit. The cabin was nice. Our only issue was that our smoke alarm started beeping about 11:30 pm but once I called the OWNER came and solved that right away ( yes, even late at night). Our daughter caught her first (4) fish ever. It was a great experience and I wish we could have stayed for more than one night. EDIT TO ADD - After I left the original review the team sent us a postcard thanking us again for taking the time and sharing our wonderful experience. They are a super friendly and helpful group of people. If we didn't live so far away I would definitely come back often! Much better than campgrounds near me.

I really enjoyed my stay here. They camper grounds are very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and professional. I really appreciated getting a call back from one of the owners in response to a voicemail I had left regarding wanting to stay at the site. I appreciate NOT being told to go to the website. A lovely place to stay. I appreciate the kindness.

This place is absolutely amazing. Especially the people. They are the nicest people I have ever met in my life. The engine in my motorhome blew. So I have to have it towed. And I need a rental car. A place to stay. These people are bending over backwards to accommodate us. I'm 47. They are the nicest people I have ever met in my life. The owners are absolutely amazing. The employees. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I live all the way in Arizona. I highly recommend this place to everyone. And the beautiful views make it even better. We stayed at the Deluxe Pet Cabin # 47, and this is hands down the most beautiful, amazing, pet friendly cabin we have ever stayed at. The entire area was enclosed so our pups could run around without worry. They had a cozy cabin that had a bathroom inside and a great outside shower. The shower allowed you to look up at the sky, with a great rain fall shower head. The staff had been wonderful and helpful with anything we needed! The amenities were beautifully done and always clean. One of the best KOA's we have ever stayed at! Highly recommend if you want a relaxing time and family time!

We just spent a week at the Fancy Gap KOA in our RV, and it was absolutely wonderful. The location is gorgeous — peaceful, scenic, and a perfect base for enjoying the Blue Ridge Parkway. The grounds were beautifully kept, the facilities were spotless, and the owners were friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the camp store, which was well-stocked and even offered delicious smoked brisket — highly recommend trying it! Every part of the campground felt thoughtfully maintained, from the layout of the sites to the landscaping. This KOA is a fantastic stop for families, couples, solo travelers, and pet owners alike. Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway or a convenient home base for exploring the area, you’ll be glad you stayed here. We’re definitely already looking forward to our next visit!

This is hands down the best KOA we've been to. It may be small but it has a lot of amenities and fun. The staff are so friendly and helpful! The owners are amazing. I watched a guy throw a fit because hit site "wasn't level" and the owner was patient and helped him settle his rig in. (Let's just say it wasn't the site that wasn't level) On Friday and Saturday they also smoked pulled pork and brisket which was amazing! The store there is very well stocked. I spent $200 in there easily just so I could get their baked beans recipe. I didn't get it, but it's one of the many reasons I'll go back! :)

What a lovely KOA! The staff were so nice and helpful. Bathrooms, laundry room, pool, and campsites were clean and in good shape. So much to do for kids. And the cute little details around the place, from the metal bugs and flowers, to the bear bench with rocks painted like honeycomb around it. A+!

What a great surprise! We (mistakenly) thought KOA Journey parks were all basically parking lots close to the highway for a quick overnight. We were wrong! This place has a friendly staff, beautiful location also with cabins and great amenities: pool, games, gem mining, fishing, and more. And it probably had the sweetest camp store I have ever seen, all the necessities plus really, REALLY cute gift items (think Cracker Barrel shopping.) The brisket & pulled pork sandwiches (we didn't try the pizza yet) are an absolutely perfect way to top off a travel day. Next time this will absolutely be a destination visit!

This will definitely be our go-to on the way home from Florida! Not only is this place beautiful the people there are amazing... the lady in charge used to work at cracker barrel. That's why the place is so charming. She is also so charming! Thank you for the warm welcome!
