Even giving them the benefit of the doubt due to recent issues with Hurricane Helene, I must say this was the most UNWELCOMING welcome I have ever received by a host. And I too have camped all over the US and Canada. First off, I rebooked after the hurricane but did not receive the modified directions either by email or phone call. Owner seemed annoyed that I called. Tried to tell me I got the modified directions, Pictures are overdone by super wide angle lenses and not representative of the actual campground. He asked me if I would be needing firewood. I said yes. He had one bundle of firewood, and no more available. Was told that very rudely as well. I was booked for a 3-night stay. Unacceptable. I made a 3 point turn by my campsite, admittedly pulling up onto a slight sloped area, and the owner came tearing towards me on his tractor and bit my head off. Saying he was trying to prevent erosion. If this area is ever full it would be exceedingly crowded and unappealing. The cabins are so close together. So are the 5 tent sites. Trust me there are far better places to camp. I am so glad I left.
We absolutely LOVE this place! Charles & Jennifer the owners, are so kind and wonderful, they make every visit enjoyable. We are always greeted with warmth and smiles, and fantastic recommendations for things to do locally in the area and in southwest Virginia. The cabins are lovely, clean, and stocked with great amenities not normally found at campgrounds. We can't wait to go back again and again!
My wife and I stayed in the cabins on two separate occasions recently. The cabins and the bath house were clean and tidy for both stays and the personnel we met were friendly and helpful. The bed could have been more comfortable, but we slept well enough. We'll definitely stay again.
Beautiful campground! Charles and Jen are wonderful owners who take great care of the facilities and cabins and campgrounds. We have camped here multiple times and have had zero issues! Beautiful area of the blue ridge to walk and close enough to town to drive and explore!
Very nice campground with beautiful scenery. The owners keep it immaculate. We stayed over a week when moving to the area, and all was well. Thank you Charles + Jennifer! We will always remember our beginnings here.
We used the rv campground and were very pleased. Very nice small rv park. Bath house is very well maintained.
This is my go to place to stay if visiting that portion of Virginia and the Mt. Airy area. It's perfectly located with a killer sunrise view just a short walk down the parkway.
