Such a cool, beautiful place, full of history, and very family friendly. All the exhibits were closed when we visited but we were still able to walk around and enjoy seeing the really well maintained buildings. The lakefront views are amazing.
This state park is so amazing. We went back two days to take it all in and walk around. We went during construction of the main parking area and center so parking was limited and we couldn't purchase a day pass. We ended getting a pass at another park and using it here as well. Highly recommend.
Full disclosure: never saw the campground. This review is based on just the historical village. VERY NEAT to walk thru! Many buildings are open to the public, it is a whole village museum. So cool. Could easily have spent a lot more time here than I did. Felt like I travelled back in time.
This park has so much to offer! There's a campground, sandy beach, rocky beach, harbor and marina. The visitor's center has an informal video and a shop with souvenirs and ice cream. The old buildings were fascinating and the views breathtaking. The interpretive signs were very informational and we enjoyed learning about the town.
It’s a must stop if you’re traveling along Lake Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. We were amazed by how many buildings survived. The also had signs by some foundations of ones that didn’t. We couldn’t go inside the ore furnace building but it’s structure is very unique. The harbor has a nice view of Big Bay De Noc and the rock cliffs. Lots of history to discover as you walk through the village. The park has a nice information center with a gift shop. There is a very large 3D map depicting the village with all the buildings.
