Fishermans Bridge Area Campground Introduce
š The Angler's Choice: Fishermans Bridge Area Campground Introduction / Overview
For Nebraska residents who live to cast a line, the Fishermans Bridge Area Campground at Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area (SRA) near Loup City is widely regarded as one of the best fishing hubs in Central Nebraska. Located near the inlet on the north end of the reservoir, this area provides prime access to the supply canal and the main body of the 2,845-acre lake. While the camping here is generally designated as primitive or non-pad camping, its popularity stems directly from its proximity to outstanding angling opportunities.
Sherman Reservoir is a water-oriented paradise managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, known for its extensive shoreline (approximately 68 miles) and excellent fishing for species like Walleye, Channel Catfish, Crappie, and White Bass. The Fishermans Bridge Area, in particular, attracts devoted anglers. Reviews confirm the experience: "Great fishing" is the main draw, highlighting its reliability as a productive fishing spot.
The campground offers a rustic, self-service experience with vast space, appealing to those who prefer open, less-developed settings over modern RV parks. While the park is celebrated for its natural beauty and quiet atmosphere, visitors should be prepared for a basic camping setup, focusing on the core experience of fishing and relaxation in the beautiful Nebraska plains.

š Location and Accessibility in Loup City, NE
Fishermans Bridge Area Campground is strategically located within the extensive Sherman Reservoir SRA, northeast of Loup City, Nebraska (Sherman County).
The general address is Loup City, NE 68853, USA. The location is conveniently situated for travelers in Central Nebraska, accessible via state and county roads leading off major routes. Being part of the SRA, it offers a true escape from urban noise while still being a manageable distance from Loup City for essential supplies.
Accessibility for vehicles is good on the main access roads, but campers must be aware that this is primarily a non-pad camping area. Sites are primitive and scattered along the shoreline trails and roads, allowing groups to spread out. The camping operates on a first-come, first-served basis. All vehicles must display a valid Nebraska Park Entry Permit, which must be purchased before entering or using the self-service registration boxes (Iron Rangers). As one customer noted, the self-service permit process can be confusing with instructions about stamps; therefore, Nebraska residents are strongly advised to purchase their Annual or Daily Park Entry Permits in advance online at OutdoorNebraska.org or at the Trade Winds Marina.

Customer Reviews
Great fishing could use a little cleaning around the waters edge cuz some people just don't have any respect and clean up after themselves
Good fishing! Ran into one rude local but other than that everyone was very kind. I advise buying a permit before going because i was confused about the box and permit where it is self serv... The permit states it is not valid without a stamp and the stamp is not given with the permit nor does it look like a typical day pass and caused a lot of fuss and confusion at other state parks we visited the same day.
Another great fishing trip. Cats, drum & carp this time. Crappie were biting for bobber fishermen. We were only looking to catch cats or walleye
Nice place to fish it's just to bad that not everyone knows how to pick up after their self
It's a grassy area s few tables and pit toilet on a little side road near the inlet bridge.
