I have been visiting or staying at flamingo lakes for many years now. I can honestly say the management company that is operating the day-to-day activities have got it right. Clean, structured, organized safe. Flamingo lakes is a Jacksonville Jewel. The lake in the middle is Spring fed and maintained for a safe day in the water. We rent the clubhouse once a year and get to enjoy the covered stage and seating area for live music. Flamingo lakes never lets us down
Lori, Jenny and Carla were extremely accommodating for our visit. The facility’s are very clean, the rv park is great for families as well! We had fun with karaoke on Friday night! The location is easy to access as well as easy to get to Jacksonville quickly. We will definitely be back!
We stayed in the Flamingo RV Resort, north of Jacksonville, for three nights in February of 2025. It was just our luck to roll into the park when a cold snap hit the area. We survived. This is a very large park, that has just been taken over by a new company, Sun RV Communities. The park is just off of I-295 and is close to a Walmart, a Waffle House, and other shopping. You do hear highway noise in the park. If you are a light sleeper, this might be an issue. The camp store is OK, and the people we dealt with in the office were very nice and helpful. The swimming pool was undergoing a major restoration during our stay which wasn’t an issue because of the weather. The park appears to cater to long term campers, rather than overnight or brief stays. We were told that if you book an entire month, you get something like a 60% discount off of the daily rate. If you drive a big rig, and are new to backing and/or parking it, ask for a pull through. Our back in site was on a narrow street, but we had no problem getting into it. The pad was asphalt and we could level our class A easily. There was a concrete pad with a picnic table on the passenger side of the rig. If you are long term, they do have lots of rules, and they do have "enforcers" who drive around in golf carts and look for infractions. We saw a neighbor get a notice pasted on their rig. I think it had something to do with the location of their picnic table. We had a full hookup site that included cable. I hooked up the cable and ran a scan, but didn’t get anywhere near the number of channels that were indicated on our paperwork. To be fair, it was raining, and I made no effort to troubleshoot the problem. We prefer channels available on off-air stations rather than what was available on cable. I believe we had 60 off-air channels to choose from. Wifi signals were plentiful, but the speed of the wifi varied tremendously, most likely due to the large number of residents in the park. We had full signal on ATT and near full signal on Verizon so we could use our phones as hotspots when the park’s wifi got slow. Many of the streets in the park are very narrow, and are one way only. We were given a map when we arrived, which was nice, but there were no street names on the map. As a result, we got lost trying to find our way to the restaurant that is in the park. If you are there for a couple of days, I suspect you'll figure out the layout of the park. My wife was excited about the on site restaurant because the menu listed a large number of gluten free choices. When we arrived at the restaurant and inquired about gluten free items, the server looked at us like a deer in headlights and informed us that they had NO gluten free items. OK, then why were we given a menu as part of our arrival package that included gluten free choices? There is a laundry directly across from the office. We did not use it because every time we drove by, all the parking places were filled suggesting that all of the washers and dryers were full. If there was a second laundry in the park, we didn't find it. The park does have regular activities for the residents. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, but our sense is that they are more interested in long term campers. Your mileage may vary.
This was our second visit. Last year we stayed 1 week. It was awesome. So we made a second reservation for a month … thats when it started. We travel in a 43’ motorcoach. We pull our vehicle on a flatbed trailer. 1st, since we were staying a month, they added a flat fee for electric and did not tell us about it till we checked in. 2nd since we were staying a month, they would not let us keep our trailer attached to the coach on our site like our last visit, we had to relocate it to a grassy field and pay to store it there which they did not tell us until we checked in. 3rd, they have lots of good rules … pick up after your dogs, dogs must be leashed, no dogs on beach, speed limit 5mph, lots of speed bumps to remind you … the problem is, no one but us obeyed them. This meant there was dog poop everywhere even though the park supplied doggie bags every where. We had dogs chasing us and our dogs when we tried to walk the park. Little kids and teen agers on electric scooters or motor bikes, flying better than 15 mph around the park, very dangerous. When you asked an employee in a golf cart for help, they would not do anything unless you knew exactly where the offender was staying or got a name etc … I said all you got to do is ride around and correct the issues as you see them. Don’t wait till someone complains and has done all the leg work for you. Finally, this park was party central. Every weekend, we had to call security for neighbors with loud music and yelling way past quiet hours. Went to visit the office about the issue the next morning and they said to keep calling security. If this is your kind of relaxing and enjoyment, I highly recommend this place … so have fun, but unfortunately this will be our last stay … too bad cause it’s so convenient for us and we liked it here.
We liked this campground though it was on the pricey side. We booked late since we were evacuating a hurricane, so they put us in a very muddy site with minimal gravel. I had just spent several days detailing our class A coach, and now the wheels are covered in mud. If they would just put gravel down the full length of the sites this problem would be solved. Beware of the 200s sites for this reason. Otherwise, nice place.
