Spent a week camping at Flatrock. Although it’s small, and just off the road, it’s a great staging point and base camp to explore the area and the Frank Church/River Of No Return Wilderness. Stumbled upon this spot while searching for an alternative after EVERYTHING down 75 (Petit Lake, Alturas Lake, etc.) was absolutely packed during the Covid camping revival of late, and I was really glad I did! It was very different than the lakeside campground with mountain views I had sought in the Sawtooths, but it provided a beautifully quiet, relaxing stay that I was grateful for and loved. The only reason for the deducted star is the proximity to Yankee Fork Rd, which is only feet away. Overall I would definitely recommend it as a low key spot for a night under the stars without a crowd.
