I talked my husband into coming over to see the park after we fished at the lake today. My best friend/sister in law used to load her big van up with my 3 kids and her grandkids and camp all weekend as close to the water as we could get!! It’s been close to 35 years ago. I was so sad when we got here and found out it was closed for the season! I called this morning and the recording said they were only open on weekends and closed at 6. Google Maps shows that it closed at 8. The gate to the fishing pier was propped open so we walked to it. My husband is a police officer (35+ yrs.) and it was like pulling teeth to get him to do that. 😂 I walked down the road to the park just a little ways & took a couple of pictures. I figured since we paid over $75 for non resident one day fishing permits that I was at least gonna take a few pics. (it wouldn’t let us buy a one day permit online) I want to come back this summer and bring our grands and great grands!!

My brother-in-law and I were out looking for places to kayak when we ran across this park. We brought our families back the next weekend. We swam, kayaked, picnicked, and relaxed. The lady at the gate was super helpful and very genuine. She gave us tips on making the most of our visit. Get there early! If fills up fast! There are public restrooms, a playground, and plenty of parking. DON'T BRING A VEHICLE THAT IS LOW TO THE GROUND! The entire park is on a peninsula that is basically a giant rock.
