Honestly this place deserves more than five stars. Our experience has been amazing. The park is so clean including the showers and stalls. Plenty of shade and even a stream with turtles. It's gorgeous. There's a skeet range next door and most nights you can see deer feeding in the ranges meadow. It a peaceful place to stay.
First, what was good about the campground? The showers and laundry room were clean and well maintained. Check in was super easy. The sites were pull through and mostly level. It has been quite for my 2 week stay other than the occasional helicopter passing over head but that is to be expected. It's only $28/night($25/night with the National Parks Access Pass)for FHU. That being said.... The park is in serious need of renovations and up dates. Many of the parks features are unusable due to neglect(picnic tables, benches, walking bridges and even a road bridge). You can tell the last few Commanders at Fort Campbell didn't care about this place and literally let it rot! Many of the cabins were in disrepair as well. A family staying in the cabin next to me moved out early because the AC was not keeping up. I could tell it has never been serviced(I used to work in HVAC). Several of the cabins are missing shingles and it looks like it has been that way for a long time. One cabin had caution tape around it as if it was being worked on but I have been here 2 weeks and no work has been done. This is sad because my family loves military campgrounds. And campgrounds are cash cows for installation MWR programs. The campground is not the only MWR facility(Gardner pool, golf course, horse stables, ball fields, play grounds, Child Development Centers)in need of reinvestment. This is a direct reflection of installation Commanders and their leadership! They are failing their Soldiers, retirees and their families! To the Garrison Commander and the Commander of the 101st, this is our home and your responsibility! Take the welfare of your Soldiers seriously and fix the MWR facilities on Fort Campbell!
We enjoyed our Memorial Weekend experience. The pull-through RV/Campers spots were great. The grounds we neatly kept and clean. The only thing missing was walking trails. We will definitely come back!!
This place is open to the public but ran by the military. Two campgrounds in close proximity. Full hookups for 25 bucks a night! Roomy sites with a picnic table and a grill. The sites are not well maintained at Eagles Rest as the grass is taking over the gravel sites and needs trimming. There are NO firepits. Fletcher's Fork down the hill has paved pull through sites. Bathhouse is nice and code is needed to get in. There is a large pavilion for rent/use , playground, picnic area, basketball courts. 4 stars for full hooks and large site. More like 3.5 if I could give a 1/2 star. I would stay again. Came for the eclipse.
A very pleasant, quiet place to Camp. Fletcher's Fork has long pulled through, bathrooms, and showers. If you come in late like we did, you can pay in the morning. They will come by very early and put a notice on your door with info how to pay. Rec office is about 1 1/2 miles away. Nice grass area with picnic table at each site. Plenty of room for slides. Only issue was loud birds waking us up in the morning about 5 am. $35 full hookups. Would definitely stay again.
