Florida Caverns State Park is a 5 star stop for either day use or overnight ! We absolutely loved the cavern tour which is $15 per person and guided. You can’t go in without a guide and our guide was super informative. This is the ONLY cavern tour in Florida and we highly recommend it. Tour takes about an hour and is not handicapped friendly. There are stairs, tight spots and stooping involved to navigate the cave. The campground is pristine with many areas for picnicking , biking and even has an equestrian area. A few campsites are dedicated for equestrians. E bikes were very handy in this state parks area, but there was a rental option for E bikes if yours is at home. You can buy firewood for $6 cash right there from a camp host and the facilities in general are very clean and well organized. If you’re in the Marianna, FL area reserve this campground! You can also just go in for day use to state parks area and for the caverns only. The caverns have a small gift shop with postcards, chips/ drinks and tshirts. * Extra info- you’re allowed to tip your guide on the cavern tour so bring a few extra bucks if you feel they did good job.
What a gem! The cavern tour was remarkably fascinating, especially for the price of admission. Our guide was well-trained and a lot of fun. Some of the hiking trails were pretty nice too, especially in the Winter if you're into birding. We couldn't believe we were still in Florida! The tent campsites were small and close together, but we loved the view of the sunrise over the spring in the morning - and having a place to put our hammock was refreshing. Our tent has a somewhat large footprint (just bigger than your average 2 room and just smaller than your average 3 room), and it did not fit on the gravel (ugh, awful, damaging gravel!) tent spot. The bathrooms were reasonably clean -with real toilets and hot water! That hot water was an absolute treat. But the women's restroom is missing the privacy curtain between the showers and the sinks (the shower stalls each have a curtain but the dressing/drying area is unhidden), so when creeping out to grab your towel on the hooks that are well out of reach of the shower itself, you're buck naked and hoping no one comes in the front door! Lol. In January, it was mostly a non-issue, but if the spring draws more campers in the summer, someone is gonna want to fix that. ;)
I've been here twice, once in 2015 and again in 2025. It was an amazing experience each time. The park offers plenty to do, and the cave tours are pretty affordable. This is an absolute must-see if you're in the Tallahassee/Marianna area. Our tour guide, Tripp, was very knowledgeable and led the tour very well. I also got the once in a lifetime opportunity to see snow here due to winter storm Enzo, as shown in some of the photos below!
Amazing experience! Very informative & entertaining tour guide (think his name was Steele). Caverns were beautiful & well lit with colorful lighting. He even found a bat in the stalactites. I was able to get an amazing picture in night mode, because you can't use flash around the bats. Recommend 10/10
Had an amazing time! The cave was spectacular!! Our tour guide was super friendly and knew so much about the history of the cave and the local area! The tour was $15/each adult. Children can go in, I do not have the pricing for that. The tour was about 30-45 minutes and fairly easy for most. The tour itself is not wheelchair friendly but a lot of the park is, including the museum! Highly recommend it for anyone!
